Lol I hate HDR and I hope it goes to the trashbin of history in the future. Looks silly, gives headaches and eye strain, as well as drains battery and uses processing power. Hopefully one can still disable it with battery saving mode, but I guess it might change in the future

iPhones have been OLED since the iPhone X nearly a decade ago.

Have you ever once noticed burn-in on your iPhone?
No but I noticed they might die randomly. Either fully black display or might develop two vertical lines, green, pink or both. Happened on my 11 Pro. Twice.

Interestingly enough, Apple’s LCD displays suffer from burn-in. I have many old Apple devices with LCD displays that have developed “beige patina” on white background, small image ghosting artifacts and similar

If you're in a position where you need to finance a computer laptop you should be buying an air or something, which are probably still good enough to do whatever it is you need to do. The pros are just luxury products.

The neos are just junk which nobody should be buying.

Can’t say I agree. I have a Neo base model and a 16 MBP M5 max 18/40…and the Neo gets used almost exclusively unless I need to heavy muscle. The Neo is fantastic and satisfies the NEEDS of 99% of people whether they will admit it or not. The fancy screen, speaker, etc are wants, not needs.

They’re not junk. You’re not the target market. They’re great for people on a fixed income, or for Windows users who don’t want to pay $1200 to find out whether they might like a Mac, or for students, etc.
It's way too compromised. USB2 on a laptop in the year of our lord 2026 makes no sense.

It seems to appear only on displays with both OLED + HDR.
Weird. Mini LED displays are as HDR capable as OLED ones, if not more… I guess Apple will now try to sell us the OLED technology on Mac, when they have an already great display technology. But OLED allows for much thinner displays.

MacBook Pro Ultra……
I think it will have another trick up its sleeve.
I agree there has to be something else about the Ultra to distinguish it from the redesigned Pro besides an OLED touchscreen.

I wonder if it might fold flat like the iPhone Ultra, and the "reinforced hinge" that's been rumoured isn't just about keeping it stable while you tap it vertically, but rather about giving it horizontality so it's actually usable as a touch device. Give that thing Apple Pencil support and I could see certain creatives wanting what is basically an iPad Pro lying on their desk while connected to a MacBook Pro body.

Would OLED be that much better than the mini LED? Super noticeable?
Without direct comparison - not necessarily. But I experienced it multiple times that I screen-mirrored from a Mini-LED iPad Pro to an OLED TV and thought "dang - that OLED is indeed visibly better than this iPad screen" ...

Funny, I have yet to simultaneously need 2 USB 3 ports on my Neo in 2026. The dual USB port need came up a lot more for me in USB 1 days, before ubiquitous WiFi was a thing.

I have used the USB 2 port as a charge port in 2026, though.
