Since this update IINA player is causing beach balls very often while watching a video and doing anything else at the same time. The video stops but audio not. Same for Elmedia player what I tried as a substitute. Never had any problems before with IINA player in any beta of macOS 15.

This doesn't happen when videos are played in Quicktime.
Yeah this is happening for a lot of video player apps. I put an FYI (as beta) in the IINA Github issues about it they said it's probably due to CAOpenGLLayer which they and VLC et al. All use but asked for debug info (which someone else helpfully provided).

Just tried Movist Pro which seems OK with a small sample set that I tried so far.

I've been having problems with obtaining a fixed IP address from my home router, as MacOS would randomly change my MAC address (what Apple calls the Wi-Fi address) even when the new rotate address option was turned off.

It would *usually* give the same MAC add news! ress but occasionally invent a new one, sometimes even after just shutting the lid. This could cause my router to think "oooo, shiny new computer! Better give this one a different IP address".

I was just checking, and this hasn't happened again on this new beta. And there's a new option in settings too.
* Edit: it has happened again, when opening the lid after leaving it closed for an hour or so.

I've not yet worked out the difference between "off" and"fixed" but my guess is that "fixed" means I'll always get the same MAC address when connecting to this network (whee!) whereas "off" means it may create a new one, but then won't change it while you remain connected.

It's still a slightly annoying feature to me, as I used to have my 5 GHz and 2.4GHz networks combined, and I can no longer do that as there's no way to present the same MAC address to both networks, even though they share the same SSID.

Edit: This is big news! Well, big news to me :) I've just changed the setting from the new "Fixed" to "Off" and I have a privacy warning and it is giving my original/correct/actual/real MAC address to my network.

I changed the setting to "Off" for my 2.4GHz network as well as the 5GHz one and it is going to give the same MAC address to both. This is great!

So ... "Rotate" means the MAC address will change every now and again when you're connected to the network. "Fixed" means it won't change while you're connected, but may change when you disconnect and re-connect a while later, and "Off" means it'll never change and it will be your actual hardware MAC address.

Thank god I’m not the only one. Any solutions yet?

What is AuthenticationServicesAgent-STP? It started appearing along with latest beta. Even if I force exit, it is coming back after a while.

quick look gives "AuthenticationServicesAgent process on a Mac is part of the macOS system and is typically associated with Apple’s authentication services. When you see this process running or an associated window popping up, it usually relates to user authentication tasks, such as signing in with your Apple ID, using iCloud services, or other secure login mechanisms."

But never saw it so prominent in the dock ...

this is the same issue as i posted with node from VS code. "background" apps, or sub processes or appearing in the dock. started on b4

Adding an album to your library via Apple Music crashes the app everytime for me.

Glitches with other apps that have work-arounds. Permissions don't stick properly for some apps, such as Shottr (the workaround with Shottr is to first do a full-screenshot capture, permit the app to capture, then select-area screenshots work).

I have this too. It's suddenly appearing in the Dock sometimes and always it isn't reacting and can only be forced to quit. I am now on 15.1 DB. Not sure if it's gone since then but I didn't see it for a while.

But the beach balls caused by every video player except QuickTime seem to be gone now.

Issues for me;

When I updated to iOS 18.1, I was able to use iPhone mirroring in Sweden. But, once I changed my region to US for trying out AI, Mac is showing that iPhone mirroring isn’t supported in my region. I did change my region back to Sweden but mirroring is not supported anymore.

Band roll notifications don’t disappear in this beta. It stays on until I swipe it off.
