Judging by their Mac sales numbers Apple is doing something right. You can’t grow in the way they have
Don’t know which numbers are you looking into, but computer business has been steadily shrinking for Apple and is down to 6,5% of total turnover in Q1 this year. Yes, I am still buying Mac over anything else, while Apple still makes them.

They should have been releasing MacOS in tandem with IOS forever because of the linked dependencies on the server side like changes to notes, advanced security, photos, home kit, etc that have interlocking features that depend on all your devices being on the same version. This particularly affects those of us who are “all in” on the Appleverse.

Apple is becoming more and more about the integration of their systems with their services. They could break their services out into separate silos and update each of those independently across all platforms. However, if the services are dependent on the platform OS version, then they must update the platform OS’s simultaneously.

You're still upgrading into an OS that's updated every 12 months.
12 months of bug fixes and broken plugin fixes and bang the cycle starts again.
Apple isn’t going to change their release to every two years. Too much market and money is vested in every year, whether we like it or not.

My point was, you can stay on the current OS you have and not update anything if that makes one happy. You can’t complaint about releases every year, and also complain about constant bug and bug fixes for the OS you wish to stay with. No matter what, an OS is going to have bug and user UI shortcomings whether it’s Mac, Windows, or Linux. You are complaining about a topic that has been going on since consumer computers came on the scene in the 80s.

I agree that Apple won't change.

Where did I complain?
I asked very nicely.

"Dear Apple,
Please go to 2 year updates.
Thanks."

I've received 24 feedback on my suggestion so far.
18 liked it.
4 loved it.
2 disagreed.

Maybe it had some merit.

But apple no longer charges for OS updates so what’s the money issue? Or is an obligatory OS update require to support annual model updates?

I agree, that the consumer market is expecting annual “update” to popular products (iPhones and MacBooks).
