It’s cramped an impossible to find stuff without scrolling. It was much better when the preferences were laid out on a grid so you could see the top-level options straight away.
hated the old way. horizontal lists are terrible and I always needed to search to find anything.

don't know what all the complaints are about with the new pref UI. it's great.
I work using a 32" UHD monitor as my main display, the lack of screen usage of the new UI is absurd, it's tiny, and it's like mirroring my 13 mini, at exact size, on my giant display, and it doesnt scale (at least I can make it longer so I don't need to scroll, like I do when using it on my laptop display). Worse, it's slow and laggy, even on my work M1P MBP, it's *really* slow and laggy on my 2020 Intel MBA. It's a ridiculous step backwards in every way for no reason

don't see how it's *backwards* when the previous prefs is worse.

yes, the new prefs window could be taller, making having to scroll up and down less prominent, but otherwise it's fine as far as i'm concerned.

Most monitors are wider than they are tall, it's an app designed for a phone's vertical use on a mac, it's just silly

but the biggest problem by far is the performance and lag, that's just unacceptable on a modern machine

Again, laying out all of your categories horizontally is terrible for quickly finding what you need
