Docked web apps and Safari profiles are good changes.
They are, at least I think they will be, but what I would have wanted that I could put my web apps not just in the dock in ~/Applications or even /Applications. Because my Dock is usually very empty and I use Spotlight to launch things. But we'll see how this works in the end.

System settings will stay as one of the biggest downgrade of MacOS, on par with the removal of exposé+spaces in macOS Lion. It is so frustrating that productivity is broken only to be replaced by toyish gimmicks.
System Settings is not perfect, but let's not pretend that System Preferences was either. They shoehorned a lot of settings into the simple hierarchy of the old Preferences to the point where things didn't make much sense at times. In both cases just searching for a setting was the best way to find something.

To upgrade Safari I have to upgrade whole system, it's a nonesense. I'll stick to BigSur anyway, because of my workflow and not working usb C dongles (monterey). Ventura and Sonoma look like Windows Vista, with clock widget especially :D

Some new features work only with Apple Silicon.
Would MR please post what they are?
I have one of the last Intel 27" iMacs (Core i9, 128 GB ram, 4TB SSD) and replacing it with comparable (Studio and Display) could get expensive.

This must be the first macOS release of nothingness yet. There is literally nothing to notes here of any interest to make it worth upgrading.

Widgets on the desktop is just Dashboard reincarnated. Even the web page as an app is just a glorified websnip tool for Dashboard.
I present on Zoom all the time and for me the new presentation features are very exciting.

Why does everyone act like the Safari and webapp additions are so great? Its the same funktionality you have been able to use for quite a while with Chrome and Edge. Apple are just late to the dance.

But Apple doesn't auction off our data.
If you want Chrome/Edge, and are willing to have your data posted on bathroom walls, go for it.

Sure , and I agree, but thats not a relevant argument to my question. If it where, then that argument should have been part of one of the answers given to the users who asked for its functionality. Its not hard to write “try it all out in Chrome and if you like it, update and use it in safari if you value privacy”.

It's funny how half of the people complain that Apple need to do bigger OS upgrades while the other half wish Apple would introduce fewer features with each update to focus on stability.

I look forward to the new features in Sonoma, they mostly seem to refine the experience of macOS one areas that are useful to me.
There a third subset of users who believe that the largest, most successful company in the world could probably do both of these things.

Anyone else having issues playing podcast in MacOS Sonoma? The app loads but will not play on my M1 MBP. I get an unable to play message. I also have to force quit the app.

… I’m okay with MacRumors knowing which articles I click through to, but I’m not okay with Google knowing that I read both MacRumors and, say, the Times. …
Unfortunately, looks like Google's on to you! :)

Does Sonoma finally bring us the Volume Indicator at the SIDE of the screen?!?!? I thought we were gonna get that years ago. Long overdue.
Agreed, this is weird. Especially given that we're looking at the exact same front-and-center volume indicator that iOS used to have. It's not a gigantic problem, but once you start noticing, it's hard to unsee.
