Issues that stay in Untested for 3 releases (beta or smooth) will be removed from all future threads. When there is a new macOS release, please be sure to let us know about the issue's status by moving it to either "Remaining Issues" or "Resolved Issues"

Additional Notes
  • Updates might not show up in Settings as soon as it releases if you have Rosetta 2 installed. This is due to Apple not releasing Rosetta at the same time as macOS Tahoe Betas. Please wait up to an hour before you will be able to update.
  • If you are encountering a memory management issue (eg. a Memory Leak), please provide what app/process it is coming from (Using Activity Monitor) and what you were doing in that app.
  • macOS 26 Tahoe will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this, as the update won’t install with an installer.
  • macOS 26 is officially supported on the following devices. If your device is not listed below, it has unfortunately been dropped by Apple. Any efforts of trying to get your Mac running macOS 26, including bugs should be discussed in this thread.
    • MacBook Air: M1, M2, M3, M4, M5
    • MacBook Pro: 2019 (16 Inch only), Intel 2020 (4 thunderbolt port only), M1, M1 Pro/M1 Max, M2, M2 Pro/M2 Max, M3/M3 Pro/M3 Max, M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max, M5, M5 Pro/M5 Max
    • MacBook Neo: A18 Pro
    • Mac mini: M1, M2/M2 Pro, M4/M4 Pro
    • iMac: 5K 2020, M1, M3, M4

It seems you can choose which monitor to put the primary menu bar on again. The dialog still doesn’t show the wallpapers of the screens, but the menu bar moves now.

So partial fix.

As previously, I am having issues applying this update. This has been a problem since Beta 2.

I start the update, and keep getting the following message:

"Failed to prepare the software update. Please try again. An error occurred while downloading the selected updates. Please check your internet connection and try again."

Of course I know how to download the installer, as I had to for Beta 2 and Beta 3, but I wonder why this keeps being an issue?

I figured out a way to run the update to Beta 4, without downloading the full installer.

I booted into Safe Mode and ran the update from there. I wonder what 3rd party SW I have that's preventing the update???

Thanks that worked well

I was able to update to beta 4 without issue (couldn't with beta 2 or 3 because of the failed to prepare notice).

A friend was able to disable his AV endpoint and install the update with beta 3. I have CrowdStrike Falcon running, but didn't disable it for upgrading to beta 4.

It seems that now, when dragging custom folders to the dock, they retain their customizations without any workarounds.

SwiftUI performance is still down about 15% compared to Sequoia in my debug testing. That noticeably hurts SwiftUI apps that have drawing tools, etc especially if the UI has multiple views.

I'm having an issue with Automounter on macOS 26.4. Not sure if it's macOS related or what. Works fine mounting an SMB share on my NAS with my Mac Studio running macOS 26.3, but my MacBook Air cannot mount and gives a "permission denied" error. I can manually mount the SMB without any issues.

Do you need to use AutoMounter still? I used to as well, but found that a simple script is a better way to go, simply putting the different scripts in a folder and running these as needed. That way you are using standard macOS functionality.

I wonder if this is related to the Time Machine problem backing up to Samba shares.

I can mount my share, and can add the drive (after having deleted it, of course) as a valid TM destination, but the backups then fail with an authorisation error. When I add the share back, it validates and accepts the user password, then accepts and validates the password used to encrypt the backup. I can also see the sparse bundle and open it without issue after mounting the share.

This error has persisted for, if I remember correctly, all the 26.4 betas.

All the 26.x betas prefer external backup drives to be formatted as APFS - and I wonder if Apple is now pulling the bandage… While older HFS+ drives may still work, they are more prone to corruption or failure when used with new macOS.

Apple discontinued the AirPort Time Capsule long ago, which used the older AFP, and newer macOS versions are phasing out support for AFP in favor of SMB, meaning older Time Capsules and network drives will start failing to mount or backup properly.

Network backups now rely on SMB, and if a NAS device does not support modern SMB3 specifications, backups will fail, become corrupted, or constantly "verify"…

macOS 26.4 has started to mount attached USB drives that had been unmounted.
On my two desktops, I usually have a large USB drive attached, formatted with AFPS and with CCC volumes corresponding to those on the desktop. I have. number of external Thunderbolt drives on both systems.
Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) is set to run an incremental backup schedule every night, mounting the needed volumes and unmounting them afterwards. This prevents unnecessary Spotlight activity and desktop clutter.
26.4 ill remount these drives frequently and at random. Is anybody else seeing this?
I have field FB.

Yes. I like the ability for it to automount if I restart/upgrade the firmware on my switch, if my laptop transitions from ethernet to Wi-Fi, etc.

I was able to resolve this by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I'm guessing something must have become corrupt during the macOS 26.4 beta 4 upgrade process. All is well now.

Just got the Studio Display XDR. I had beta 3 installed and now installed beta 4. Now the HDR option in display settings is gone and I don't seem to be able to watch HDR content. Can anyone confirm?

Edit: Seems like it's how it should be. The toggle is only there for third party displays and before the update the OS only recognized it as such.

The option appears if the selected resolution and refresh rate support HDR. Maybe try a lower resolution and/or less than 120Hz.

my calendar still jumps around (been happening for a while, and pretty random). i start my weeks on monday; sometimes another day will wind up on the left (like thursday).

anyone else experiencing this? (i've reported it a few times..)

Start your computer in Safe Mode, and it will work. I had to do that for both B3 and B4

I have solved the issue for now by disabling automount in /etc/fstab and creating some scripts to mount and unmount the USB volumes.
