Additional Notes
  • Updates might not show up in Settings as soon as it releases if you have Rosetta 2 installed. This is due to Apple not releasing Rosetta at the same time as macOS Tahoe Betas. Please wait up to an hour before you will be able to update.
  • If you are encountering a memory management issue (eg. a Memory Leak), please provide what app/process it is coming from (Using Activity Monitor) and what you were doing in that app.
  • macOS 26 Tahoe will be installed via a Delta Update in System Settings. Please be aware about this, as the update won’t install with an installer.
  • macOS 26 is officially supported on the following devices. If your device is not listed below, it has unfortunately been dropped by Apple. Any efforts of trying to get your Mac running macOS 26, including bugs should be discussed in this thread.
    • MacBook Air: M1, M2, M3, M4, M5
    • MacBook Pro: 2019 (16 Inch only), Intel 2020 (4 thunderbolt port only), M1, M1 Pro/M1 Max, M2, M2 Pro/M2 Max, M3/M3 Pro/M3 Max, M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max, M5, M5 Pro/M5 Max

Build Number ― Pending
there are 2 build numbers

25E241 and 25E243

so is this like one build for some macs, different build for others?

or is it like 2 rcs released only within hours of each other?

so 2 scenarios:

2 builds for RC1 simultaneously: 25E241 and 25E243

or is it actually

RC1: 25E241
RC2: 25E243

?

My Time Machine backup to a Samba (SMB) share is still failing with a user/password error - this started a couple of betas ago.

It's also affecting other people (e.g. on Reddit posts). TM backups to local disks aren't affected, and continue to work well.

Just installed this on my Mac Studio. Have been running 26.4 for a little while on my MacBook Air.

I have liquid glass set for tinted. On the MBA, it's opaque. On my Mac Studio, it's still liquid glass despite having it set for tinted.

My 16" M1 Max, which had been running 26.4b4, downloaded 18GB of RC Version 26.4 (25E241)

All is running very smooth.

0 visual inconsistencies have been fixed. It's especially noticeable in native full-screen apps, such as with the lyrics bar in Music or the edit bar in Photos. I don't understand the black bar in Weather either. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Edit : Oh, and new windows in Finder still flicker on the top left, in light mode at least...

Yes, I'm also affected with the RC. Hoping for a fix within the final release.

As Apple aren't collating feedbacks (mine says "none" for similar reports, despite the fact I know others have logged this issue) I assume this won't be fixed in 26.4. Apple will then act all surprised when people start complaining and come out with a fix in the next release.
There was a time when every piece of feedback I submitted would gradually be updated with links to other reports of the same issue. But nothing happened—the “similar reports” counter stayed at zero. In the end, I gave up; I send feedback… without expecting anything in return.

GeekBenchmarks have significantly improved across board in this RC (25E241) compared to 26.4b4.

Performance on CPU is back to equal that of Sequoia 15.4, GPU (Metal) is 2% better, and AI roughly same.

[as tested 2 days apart on 16" M1 Max]

Am encouraged that I won't have to revert to Sequoia after all (following inadvertent Tahoe upgrade 10 days ago) ";0))

This finally fixed an issue I had with iPhone Mirroring and typing where input languages would switch every few minutes and with it changed keyboard layouts so I had to keep checking typed text. It's been that way since the introduction of iPhone Mirroring.

Just updated to this version; I also got 25E241 as the build number. I'm pretty sure that given the previous replies I've seen on here, 25E243 is only available as an IPSW restore file.

Geekbench has never measured UI performance. If all those benchmark numbers stay the same or even improve but SwiftUI performance drops then the operating system feels slower to use no matter what the benchmarks say.
