On my 16" M1 Pro; from start to finish took ~20 minutes, I think

Meanwhile, 15.7.7 is also released (seen from my 15.7.5 machine that did not see any 15.7.6!!).

I wonder if they really will (now that it's far too late for many) finally keep their promise to keep previous releases up to date.

It would be one of the most pleasant surprises from Apple in years.

Sad that their word means absolutely nothing anymore. Maybe this will finally be the year of them actually keeping their word about their software.

Meanwhile, they managed to elegantly patch the "old" version of Pages to bug me about the "new" version right when I hit a tool I need in the middle of a document. They waited just the right amount of time for maximum irritation. This seems to be where all their engineering effort is now.

i confirm, magsafe light behaviour changed, now charing on hold at 80%, the battery saving feature, magsafe glows green, before it was orange. So yes, it did change.

Yeah I can confirm mine now does this as well.

I’m just saying this is the kind of thing they should put in the release notes. It’s a change to the meaning of a status light.

The real question is why did you dislike my post? And apparently you wanted to dislike it so badly you took a few minutes to remember how to do it.

Where did Apple promise this?

Where did Apple promise this?

They said with the announcements of the last two releases that you can stay on the prior release if you’re not ready to upgrade. And then they stop patching it at .2 but do keep producing patches for those branches but may or may not release them based on public pressure, on a completely arbitrary timeline.

It’s a terribly documented and planned policy all around.

Are there instructions yet for how to upgrade MacOS while keeping the old Maps.app to avoid the ads?

The Maps.app is a special system app so just making a copy of it doesn't seem to work (shame on Apple for this). But this is still a Mac, so there has to be away to keep the old app around. Does anyone know the special incantation?
