Overall, we are all in a pretty comfortable situation: OCLP enables us all to install macOS Sequoia on a potato of a computer which otherwise would be an expensive paperweight by now. That's something you wouldn't even have dreamed of in 2010.

So why some of you are so impatient… is it fear of missing out? There's no need for that: you will be stuck with that "glorious" macOS 26 for the rest of your Mac's life. I think this is more dreadful than waiting for the next OCLP release…

Why won't they release OCLP 3.0 without support for T2 Macs (at first) and get the rest of us up to speed while new releases are prepared?
Because the same people whining for alpha stage patch software will be the same ones complaining that they need to fresh install 15.x or older because it isn't stable enough.
d*mned if you do, d*mned if you don't. Besides liquid glass, which I'm sure will be a short lived novelty once we finally see it in person, what is the rush?

Here You can see how newest 15th Gen Hackintosh outperform any Silicon Macs 😃
I use OCLP succesful na Sequoia or on Tahoe too . On Radeon GPU You dont need iGPU.

It blows my mind that so many people just ignore the ratio between performance and power consumption. It isn't about raw performance, and even when it is you have to wonder where the ceiling is for x64 and where the ceiling is for arm. RISC won.

Some people just like the forum posting version of loving the sound of their own voice--three replies to say he didn't bother reading or understanding the comment in the first place. Don't feed the trolls.

Totally fair. Wasn't whining. But yeah put me down as voting for d*amned if you do, I guess.

Yes, I've seen that before. Doesn't look like there has been anything new there for some time. It talks about some promising initial work and also some issues yet to be solved. Unless I missed something it doesn't say anything about it being in a working state or release condition for any machine. Progress is one thing, but ready for a release or partial release is another thing.

Can I please have a better score on the "Grossly uninformed" scale now, or should I receive a stern rebuke and some remedial exercises to better myself? 🤣

That’s cool, You’ve seen it before! That’s great! That’s literally it. Stop expecting more. There will be news when the developers announce it.

If they don't get passed the damned T2 chip, it will be Sonoma is the end for my 2018 MacBook Air.

I just had a friend ask me why I am in a hurry to be able to go from Sonoma to Tahoe on an Intel Mac, he seems to think Sonoma is just fine even though it is not the latest and greatest version from apple

I'm surprisingly okay with my 2018 15" MBP being stuck on Sequoia forever - relieves me of the temptation to upgrade to Tahoe. I run Tahoe on my 2020 27" iMac and, while it's not the worst, it's certainly notably more bleh than Sequoia was. I keep hoping for some level of serious cleanup in a point release, but I'm not holding out too much hope for that at this point.

If they do not get past the stupid security t2 chip... my 2018 MacBook Air will be stuck on Sonoma.

The deadline is approaching because spring is coming 😃
Spring approaching means ? for the deadline?

I have a feeling, and it is just a feeling that getting past the T2 chip is too much of a headache, which is really unfortunate. Means people who have T2 machines from 2018 likely will be stuck on Sonoma and not be able to play with the latest new features like Ai on Tahoe.

AI is not available on Intel anyway since it requires the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in Apple Silicon.

What's wrong with that? It’s right! I went back to Sonoma, after almost six months of Sequoia, because Sonoma with OCLP allows me to enjoy 100% of the great stability that has always made us prefer Macs to PCs.
I should add that in July I installed the first Beta version of OCLP 3.0.0, which I then removed thinking it might cause conflicts.
But now I have reinstalled 3.0.0 Beta because the latest versions of Sonoma were giving me significant graphics problems after a long period of standby, with heavy applications left open.
I then discovered that the first Beta 3.0.0 (which has since disappeared from downloads and is now difficult to find) installs an OCLP with a much lighter KEXT folder in the EFI partition, and so Sonoma regained the stability it had lost with OCLP 2.4.1 and 2.5.0 Nightly, or perhaps also due to the latest macOS updates.
Fortunately, I found it with Time Machine in the July 2025 backups.

I think I've had enough of playing with OCLP. Especially since MP6.1 is my base computer and it's time to replace it with something more reliable and stable. The same goes for MBP15.1. It's time for a change. But it was cool and a lot of fun 🙂 And I'm still thankful to the Dortania team for extending the life of our Apples 🙂 Sale sale! 🙂

I have a feeling that since Tahoe will be the last version of macOS that runs on intel chips.... the team is not as interested in getting it running or getting around the T2 chip simply because there won't be much demand for it.

...What deadline...?
Even if there was a suggestion previously that "maybe it will be ready in the spring", that doesn't mean it is a certainty. In fact, the reason why the devs do not give out timeframe estimates is exactly this. People will hold them to it.
The main problem with OCLP 3 is supporting very old Invidia graphics on Tahoe. Personally, I believe that with Tahoe's hardware requirements, it will not work efficiently.

AI in personal computers makes sense if you use Nvidia 4000/5000 series cards, i.e. not on a Mac. Apple NPUs on silicon are too weak to do anything with graphics or video. Everyone else has to use or purchase computing power on remote servers.

My 2018 MacBook Air uses intel hud 617 graphics. It appears the T2 chip is the problem for them. Something tells me that will not be fixed and will have to be on Sonoma that is supported still.

The T2 chip shouldn't be a problem. I succesfull install macOS Tahoe on Lenovo computers from 2015 with 6th generation processors and HD530 graphics.
I even installed macOS Tahoe on a computer with a 3rd generation Intel processor from 2012, but the problem is the graphics that dont works . Graphics such as Nvidia Quadro or Intel HD 4000. Another limitation is the lack of AVX2 instructions in 3rd generation processors. Even if you get around it, you won't be able to run certain apps that really need AVX2.
In desktop computers where you can replace the graphics card with a Radeon, you can already try installing Tahoe on 4th generation processors. With a Mac, you can't replace the graphics card, and that's a problem. If we cannot resolve the graphics issue, it is evident that further installation is pointless.
OCLP support under Tahoe could continue by abandoning support for very old graphics because, for objective reasons, it will not work under Tahoe.
