Sometimes OCLP-mod dont works on older WiFi
Apparently, a 2017 iMac with its 8-year-old hardware is already considered obsolete for the OCLP-Mod fork.

As I said before: while the developers' OCLP is intended for original Macs, the OCLP-Mod and OCLP-Plus forks are clearly geared more towards Hackintoshes.
I have nothing against Hackintoshes; I still use some with the original OpenCore and that's how I got into real Macs.

Everything has its place, but this thread is about unsupported Macs. We shouldn't confuse these things, as keeps happening here.
Distinguishing between Hackintosh and genuine Macs is pointless.
I have a different opinion on this, but you're entitled to yours.

They’ve been working on something for eight months now, but the results are that nothing has changed. It’s not about someone just throwing in a few lines of code. What difference does that make? If I come back here in six months, someone will say that a few lines of code have been added and everything is looking up 🙂

The few lines of code you see are the public changes. Most of the development is being made privately. If you did some research I wouldn't have said this, but again you comment without doing the tiniest bit of research. Neon ball said multiple times that the patches and development are being handled privately by the developers.

OCLP-Mod: it's a dead end. The guy is a 17 year old pupil. And from what I read on discord, he basically forked the OCLP
If laobamac is really 17, that makes the accomplishments even more impressive. My 17-year-old self paled in comparison. If OCLP Devs are open to it, I think laobamac could be very helpful as a team member.

EDIT: Note that laobamac had the first fix for WhateverGreen.kext support for Radeon Polaris in Tahoe (before Acidanthera implemented the fix in Lilu.kext) and laobamac implemented the XhciPortLimit fix for Tahoe that is now incorporated into Open Core 1.0.7.

If a 17-year-old managed to do what the OCLP team couldn’t, all we can do is congratulate him )
It seems that OCLP-mod is the most advanced version, with very frequent updates. We’re currently halfway through OS 26.4.1, whilst others haven’t even started.
It seems that the biggest advantage of OCLP-Plus is the English language version. However, I’m still using OCLP-mod for now. In one of my videos, there’s a step-by-step guide with a translation.

I think some people have got a bit confused. The fact is that thanks to OCLP-mod, Tahoe has become available for Hackintosh – or perhaps not for all Mac users.
Let’s turn the situation around and consider what would have happened if the OCLP forks hadn’t been created at all? Would you have been happy then? Distinguishing between Hackintosh and genuine Macs is pointless. Because we’re talking about exactly the same macOS Tahoe system here. But as you well know, Hackintosh has fewer hardware limitations than a genuine Mac.

I think you don't fully comprehend the situation: Laobamac didn't develop any relevant patches on his own. He just took an unreleased/private build of OCLP that he had access to for some reason which already had the Audio fix and legacy USB patches and released it into the wild. To obfuscate the origin of his project, he gave it different name (instead of just forking OCLP) so no more references to the original source were available (without manual code review). On top of that ,he changed all the text to chinese to make it look more like a unique creation. And then he posted it on insanely mac as his work to get all the clout from it. So it's not exactly a "he managed what OCLP team couldn't" type of situation…

And since he isn't really capable of developing any additional paches for it (besides the once present already), he simply added a note to his repo (in Chinese only):

"This project has entered the maintenance phase, and no further updates or fixes will be provided.
Effective immediately, all commits will be synced from the dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher repository.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project and enjoyed using it.

There is no specific reason for this decision; it is simply because I no longer have the time and energy to dedicate to this project. I need to focus on other projects with sustainable growth potential, rather than this Hackintosh project, which has reached its end.
See you in the future."

Given the background/origin of his "Mod", the real "reasoning" is not time and energy but the inability to develop own patches. So this note is disingenouos at best.

Anyway, it would be a good thing if there also came some new developers to the OCLP project (but difficult, as very deep skills are required)…

Yeah But The Patching They Do is no Easy stuff... It Would be Very hard to Find a Developer that knows how to Patch macOS To Run on an Unsupported Device Apple Dropped Years ago. This is a Reason why I heavily respect the devs, the work they do is so hard.

I think we fully comprehend the situation, especially since we already established that earlier in this thread. How laobamac "took an unreleased/private build" is not a mystery - he simply forked OCLP Dev crystall1nedev's public tahoe-patchset branch (read earlier in this thread). Go back in this thread and find crystall1nedev's post.

I'm not condoning the unauthorized fork - just stating the facts. Laobamac doesn't need me to defend his work. It stands on its own. Even if he's not capable of developing new patches on his own, he's more than capable of providing assistance to the team (my opinion).

KDK 26.4.1 25E253 now with the correct spelling, on the Apple Developer site (but still not present on the OCLP KDK mirror):

I want to say that I can't work on OCLP anymore for a few reasons, mostly due to serious mental health conditions. There will be no new patches or updates coming from me.
I don’t post here often but on learning of this—and your NVidia contributions that have made a variety of my Macs work—I owe you gratitude for whatever mix of wizardry and tenacity went into the work on things I can’t understand, donated to total strangers.

I happen to work in the mental health profession too, and also have been pressed in other circumstances to release myself from volunteer work that I believed in and played a significant role in but had to be put aside to get other things in order to find my bearing again.

In 2026 anyone who has the clarity of mind to make this decision in a world gone mad is to be encouraged in the best possible way. Thanks for your technical contributions but ultimately they’re secondary and others can pick up that thread for a while.

Be well, brother.

Honestly, you don’t owe anyone anything. We’re just incredibly grateful for everything you’ve given—your hard work, your time, your heart.
What truly matters to us is you… that you heal, that you feel better, and that you stay healthy.

For those who didn't watch Mr. Macintosh's "Not Dead" video, let me spare you the 14+ minutes and give you a summary:
  • There are currently two versions of OCLP in development: 2.5.0 for Sequoia and older versions of macOS and OCLP 3.0 for Tahoe
  • Some Devs have left the team for one reason or another
  • OCLP 3.0 may be released to support Tahoe
I don't hide my dislike of YouTube videos that expand 10 seconds of content into a 20 minute video. The good thing about this video is that it is only 14+ minutes. That's 14+ minutes that I won't be getting back, so hopefully you can put the time to good use.

You took one for the team. Next time have AI summarise the trans script. 🙂 Available in Tahoe. Its a jooooooke 🙂

But you know that the same thing could have been written six months ago and it would still be true 😃

I've been waiting for years for a Half-Life sequel and am still waiting for GTA VI after multiple delays ... and I have to pay for those. If OCLP Devs need more time to release their free software, I'm ok with that.
Important thing to remember, is these developers doing this project, don't get paid, and still release it for free so if it means waiting longer for them to make it better? I'm on board

Generally speaking, you’re all right. However, the problem is that it’s not possible to integrate older versions of Intel or Nvidia graphics into Tahoe OCLP. Or, even if it were possible, it wouldn’t be a stable solution. That’s why it doesn’t matter whether we give them a year or 10 years’ extra time.
