macOS Tahoe 26 on Unsupported Macs Discussion

As I also said in the Sequoia discussion, it is not possible to download the OCLP 2.5 nightly build anymore: but this probably means nothing, and is simply due to the build being expired (it was from 19 March 2026, so more than 90 days old).

It was taking OpenCollective some time to figure out why some of them weren't canceling, they escalated to engineering and on the 18th they followed back on it saying they are now fully cancelled.

Wondering if my laptop is a good candidate for Tahoe: late 2013 MBP retina 2.8 gH dual core i7, 16 GB memory, Intel Iris graphics

(not rushing it, just curious; I know there are developments)

Currently unemployed/semi-retired and it's my main laptop/computer running Sequoia and happy with it, but I know time marches on...

Since it's your main device. Then absolutely not Tahoe is still in development. Please wait while the developers finsh working on support for it

Hello everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank all the developers and contributors behind OpenCore Legacy Patcher, OCLP-Mod, OCLP+, and everyone else who continues to improve Hackintosh support. I truly appreciate all the hard work you've put into these projects. As the Hackintosh community continues to get smaller, your dedication and contributions mean a lot to all of us.

I'm currently running macOS Tahoe 26.5.1.

To troubleshoot this issue, I have tested with:

  • OCLP-Mod 3.1.9
  • Latest OCLP PLUS
  • Latest OCLP Nightly
I also tested using the latest AMFIPass.kext together with the -amfipassbeta boot argument where applicable.

Unfortunately, all three produce exactly the same result.

My goal is to keep:

  • VT-d = Enabled (BIOS)
  • DisableIoMapper = False (AppleVTD enabled)
  • Modern Wireless Patch
I've tested with both BCM943602CS and BCM943602CDP, and both cards behave exactly the same.

Currently, Wi-Fi only works when:

  • VT-d = Enabled
  • DisableIoMapper = True
As soon as I change DisableIoMapper to False, Wi-Fi no longer works.

I'm wondering if anyone here has successfully achieved the following configuration:

  • macOS Tahoe 26.5.1
  • VT-d = Enabled
  • DisableIoMapper = False
  • Modern Wireless Patch working
  • BCM943602CS or BCM943602CDP
If so, could you please share your configuration?

Specifically, I'm interested in knowing:

  • OpenCore version
  • DeviceProperties (if any are required)
  • ACPI/SSDT changes
  • Boot arguments
  • Kernel Quirks
  • Any additional kexts or patches required
I'm also curious whether anyone has successfully achieved this configuration with AppleVTD fully enabled, or if DisableIoMapper=True is still currently required for Broadcom Modern Wireless on Tahoe.

If any of the developers or contributors have insights into whether this is an expected limitation or whether I'm missing a required configuration, I would be very grateful for your guidance.

Any advice, screenshots, or EFI configuration details would be greatly appreciated.

This forum is for the official version of OpenCore legacy patcher. You can try to put up a post in the oclp mod repo about this and maybe the developer can help you. But I won't say anything.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the OCLP-Mod GitHub repository has already been archived and is now read-only, so I can't open an issue or leave a comment there. I was fortunate enough to find a way to send the developer a private message, so hopefully I'll hear back from him. Thank you anyway!

Yes still updates stop completely but really only still a app I currently use becomes you need a newer Mac OS to use it and as long as iCloud syncs I will ride it out on my 2014 till the digital downloads stop working ( a dig at PlayStation there lol) and given the price of macs is about to rise stupidly (given the ram shortage) I feel I’m going to use a perfectly working MacBook than pay crazy costs (will be a eBay job when the time comes unless things settle down)

I would think so and have thought so for quite a while now. I am expecting our bunch of old Macs to not go beyond Sequoia and it will probably work pretty well for another few years if we stay clear of unnecessary RC updates 😉

Very happy with all the functionality with OCLP over the years. So no biggie, but the aggregated data on what will happen with OCLP and Tahoe means I am not looking for it anymore and I am 100% fine with our old Macs to be on Linux beyond Sequoia and they are already dual boot and all of them running more Ubuntu than MacOS so definitely a migration happening. Probably done with Apple judging by what they are doing these days and American tech in general. Did not think I would say that but here we are. Politics are not allowed here so I'll stop right there 😉

it's kind of sad that most of OCLP users have reached a point were we lost hope on OCLP supporting Tahoe. Give them Time they will pull it off without a doubt but it's Not Really easy... But yeah I was planning to stay on Sequoia If the Developers Don't Support Tahoe.. But again, Keep giving them time, don't lose hope for them..

I think there's a way to have that discussion without getting political. Are you referring to Apple's request to allow Chinese memory? If it's about privacy, get a faraday bag. 🙂

Golden gate will probably be released sometime mid September to mid October. Definitely not before September and unlikely to be later than mid October.
