I think there's a way to have that discussion without getting political. Are you referring to Apple's request to allow Chinese memory? If it's about privacy, get a faraday bag. 🙂
No on both counts. I have attempted discussing this in the past and got warned for what I thought was pretty innocuous commentary so will respect the mods here.
But maybe I can reply that is is safe to say that faraday bags will not help with the issues at hand 😉

Happy 4th everyone. We celebrate everyone from everywhere from afar.

Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be

Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
The bell tolls for thee
The bell tolls for

Happy 4th of July to everyone! from Saudi Arabia! Hopefully this day brings joy to all of us.

hello, I just wanted to share something I personally think would help the OCLP community but I should warn, I am not:
  • Begging for attention
  • Asking for the Developers to Release any work that is unfinished
  • Demanding From the Developers to answer my question
I just want to share my thoughts about this since I think it would be nice to know.

I Personally think the OCLP community would benefit from getting an Update by the Opencore legacy patcher Developers about Where they are currently in Development of the Patcher Version v3.0.0. Because as of me writing this it's July 10th 2026 and its been over a year since we got a proper update about where they are and What the issues they face are, Now I should mention, the Developers did send us some updates on this forum and You can check them out yourself by going from page ~20-42 multiple OCLP Devs Gave us an update but even that its been a year and I Personally think the Community Would benefit From a update that shows us what are the issues the OCLP developers( god bless you devs the work you do is amazing i'd donate if I can but unfortunately donations are closed..) are facing and maybe someone can help out. What we Current know:
  • T2 Chip Support is their hardest Issue
  • they Cannot Commit to an OCLP update for Tahoe
  • They are still actively Working On Supporting Tahoe

Aside From that, we know nothing Really so I personally think it's nice to get just a small update where they stand with Tahoe.

and once again. I would like to thank every single person that has contributed to OpenCore legacy Patcher I cannot begin to thank you for your amazing work that has saved millions of perfectly working Macs from wastelands and E-waste. your work is truly amazing and I wish I could donate to the devs. And I say again this is Just my thought I'm not Demanding they Release anything. If anything I encourage the Devs to take their Time and work without pressure from the community.

After testing countless hours by using forks of OCLP and official OCLP 2.5.0 nightly (which I have managed to download prior to being removed).

Here's what does work and doesn't in macOS Tahoe on a 2017 4K iMac Intel Core i7, Radeon Pro 560 4GB, 16GB RAM, 512GB (This will likely or unlikely work on other models but with mixed results or will break entirely. Do it if you have a partition on your SSD or use an External SSD):

WORKS
Graphics acceleration DOES work (although not flawlessly)
Audio (manually patch in OCLP settings)
Bluetooth
USB
Ethernet
AirPlay
Wired Hotspot with Airdrop
Performance is roughly 30% to 40% faster than Sequoia (could just be my iMac)

What doesn't/doesn't work entirely
Wi-Fi
Audio (can sometimes stop working, use headphones for workaround)
Boot up will show support.apple.com screen (you can fix by rebooting Andy holding alt key and your partition for your Mac, this is necessary for installation as well)

If you do want to test, I strongly recommend using a 2017 Mac model (not the MacBook Air which uses the same chip family as the 2015) partition and have 2 USB's. One for bootable USB and one of the Kernel Debug Kit and OpenCore Legacy Patcher app.

Anyways, this is just a preview and after 5 years of using OCLP it is incredible that the team has managed to get old Mac's working on newer macOS versions.

For anyone who needs proof that I had success. Here you go.

No need to proof it - I've done it on my iMac 18.3 & 18.2 for quite a while.
Same, and quite a few people seem to have got that far too, including wifi via USB dongle (also more secure) but typically not without various other issues that may or may not be important for you and that would regardless likely require the fab OCLP devs to get that sorted. So Sequoia without major issues for the win for now and on the older MBA:s likely for evermore here 😉

Radeon 560 should work without issues in Tahoe. It does not require any OCLP post-install patching when paired with Kaby Lake CPU. On hackintoshes, having updated Lilu.kext (version 1.7.2) with WhateverGreen.kext (version 1.7.0) is required. Also, updating your Open Core EFI to version 1.0.7 will benefit macOS Tahoe.

For those who only need re-enable WiFi and/or Audio in macOS Tahoe
I tried the WiFi patch on my iMac 18.2 @OCLP3.0.0n and received this message:

WiFi-01.png
So I reverted the WiFi patch from OCLP Mod 3.1.9, which didn't work, and at the same time also reverted the audio patch from OCLP Mod 3.1.9, which does work.

WiFi-02.png
Unfortunately, I got an error message.

Any suggestions on how I should proceed to apply the patch?

Hi
Has anyone managed to get macOS Tahoe running on an iMac12,2 with an i7 processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M 2GB?

Please note that I do not need Wi-Fi support for my setup.
Thanks 🙃

Leaving aside the fact that this thread is about macOS Tahoe 26 on Unsupported Macs & Mirone's website also points to Hackintosh users as the main target group: the WiFi patch also doesn't work on my Hackintosh MP7.1 aka Asus Z170 Deluxe & i7-7700K either: same error message.

It seems some adjustments are necessary (-amfipassbeta is implemented) to enable the WiFi function, but these aren't really apparent to me.

OpenCore legacy still doesn't support Tahoe yet, so you probably can boot it but with no usable Graphics / Patches I'd say its not worth it... But Who knows maybe we can see OCLP 3.0.0 soon..

I Honestly thinking about it, I personally guess we could see OCLP 3.0.0 probably after Tahoe 26.7 at that point apple would have stopped doing Whole OS base changes that affect the OCLP developers patches since Tahoe would enter Security Update mode. But this itself is a guess and not confirmed! I just personally think that it maybe become a little more possible after 26.7.

I understood that Tahoe is the only one so far and the first system after all the years that very changes its base with new update because I have no explanation why OCLp patches break with new update as the developers told us, especially if we talk about the graphics, Apple still needs to idealise its liquid Glass but I think that after 26.5-26.6 in macOS 26 they will clearly not do this because they will switch to idealise macOS 27 Golden Gate, But what they can do in Tahoe is further cleaning of the code for old intel, it is not clear why, and I hope they will not have this idea because they have already done a VERY GOOD job as we have already seen 😇

Most definitely! Thank you OCLP Devs! You guys are so awesome! And we hope the best and easiest path for all of the Devs! but Who knows what apple has planned for Tahoe 26.7+ but Hopefully it's just security and not OS changes that make it harder for the devs. but again I will say it: I'm Just guessing that, it's not confirmed by anyone! I'm just taking a guess that we have seen from the past Years of apple Updating their OSes usually don't do Base OS changes and only do security and CVE updates!

And I also think the work of developers in privacy is a very reasonable plus because I think the Apple team also monitors some times how things are in the old Mac and the popular patcher, and let's imagine how it could be the developers of the patcher spread the patch or what they did to start something, and Apple while still working on Tahoe could freely close the hole so that the patch or something stops working, still I think the new marketing teams in apple are clearly not happy because people can buy the old one instead of the new one and without any problems installing the new system and use

That could be true, But Since the Development Team has kept the Work Private mainly because of the harassment they sadly get to release the Patches or ask about ETA's.. But hopefully we see a patcher for Tahoe Soon!

Is this version working on Macs?
This OCLP fork is pretty fake because it says in one of the releases "add macOS 27 constants" which any 5 IQ person would know that macOS 27 is Strictly Apple Silicon only. But assuming it's just Forked from the official OCLP repo yeah maybe up to Sequoia.. But Just use the official dortania OCLP.

Indeed. I keep saying it, but t would be nice if this thread could continue to be OCLP only and the obvious fakery could be ignored for the rest of the lifespan of the OCLP development era. Focus. Pretty please.
Yeah but sadly as much as you will try to keep it strictly Dortania it will find a way to be in the convo sadly.
