What's scary/troublesome is that this is not an issue at all with the current released version, V13.0.1. Yet present in the beta version of V13.1. Really don't want to see V13.1 released with this bug!
As a Roblox developer myself, I sometimes accidentally break stuff. I think this may be an accidental thing.

it will be fixed before the official 13.1 release... probably. but (for me, anyway) it's annoying, but not life & death. i have 2 apps i choose to open from the desktop, and for now, there are lots of workarounds (the dock, spotlight, launchpad, the applications folder...)

Might not be life or death, but definitely disturbing to let this happen (and let it go on for so long). As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

right, but if something is accidently broken, perhaps "fix it right away"? still, you're right, this shouldn't have made it thru 3 beta updates...

What makes this worse is that the clock app alarm issue is still not fixed. Issue since 13.0 beta 1...

Even worse, whether Beta or Released, why can't Apple fix its' ASR (Apple Software Restore) routine when "copying" the System Volume? It is causing definite fits for both Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper!.

Remember it's just a Beta. Fixing issues on a Beta is nowhere near as urgent as fixing issues on a Released OS. As as been posted it's nothing that will stop the world. Good things come to those who wait.

the whole point of betas is to find what works, what doesn't. so, ideally, bugs (some, anyway) are sorted out before final releases. but as well all know, it's never-ending. so the official 13.1 release should be better, and also still need work. hence, the betas that follow that.

it really does never end. but i always find it interesting, entertaining... & something terrifying 🤣

But it broke something that works in the release version! That's the big quirk.

Anyone here seeing issues with memory leaks on this beta? A couple of general Ventura memory leak threads (1, 2) have popped up recently.

While well stated, as long as the beta is not breaking something that is working perfectly in the current release.

that's not how it works; it's never a straight line forward. sometimes, fixing one thing messes up something else. hence the betas, the point updates; a process that continues thru an OS's life... until the next OS, when the cycle begins again. so it goes...

But when something breaks that is working, it needs to be fixed right away. No screwing around. As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

And it can be a straight line forward, if one watches what they do. As it is, what happens if they forget to fix it, and it gets released that way? Sure would not instill confidence.

Well I'm on the prior build for now, and I have my own bugs such as being notified of all my launch itmes in notifications at every boot. But I chose that over the current alias bug. Less disruptive overall. We need to remind ourselves that these aren't release candidates I guess.

seem to have lost Dutch as a system-wide translation language, even though it is listed...

(is present and working on iOS - and was working on macOS as of Ventura).

Can anyone check if they adjusted the layout of "Siri knowledge" part of spotlight that is completely broken both when using space bar (that's the worst... you can manually adjust the window but it doesn't remember its size) but also when opening it directly in Spotlight?
