The last time my M1 Air has heated up on Ventura was Beta 5. The RC honestly feels like a smooth release and would recommend updating to it when it comes out. Battery has also been unaffected from Monterey as well. The Geekbench scores were also on par for the entire beta stages with Monterey and last time performance was affected was Beta 4.

The only 2 issues I have with Ventura are the listed alarm issue and the music key issue.

Ongoing issue with my new Studio is that it sometimes won't sleep, or engage the screen saver in Ventura. This has been with all recent betas up through RC. The second to last beta was NOT good on my Studio, with missed mouse clicks, slowdowns, and hangs, but that was corrected in the last beta before RC.

Is the RC available for public beta testing or just developers? Didn't they release a couple RCs for Monterey or am I mistaken?

I just dove into RC on my M1 Air.

looking forward to take it for a spin.

throwing caution to the wind I guess with all my current devices except my iPads with these RC's and an older iPhone.

Is anyone else seeing the menu bar option to display the date when space allows to not be working properly? It's always showing the date for me and not collapsing it down like it did in Monterey. I want to say this was a fairly recent breakage, too.

I'm a public beta bloke: and the reason I installed it today (19 October) is because I am located in Bulgaria, which is fairly low on Apple's list of "countries of choice": after all, in a city of 450,000 I am the only person I am aware of who has a Mac that is used for 'other things' than the usual 'Paris Hilton' stuff.

I've had to disable iStat Menus and MenuBar Stats on my 2020 M1 MBP to stop some major crashes that started happening on the prior beta and continued on the RC. Seems that WindowServer was (I think?) causing some kind of Memory issue, using more and more.. I'd notice with a minimal number of apps open that iStat Menus would just freeze completely, and then Finder would freeze along with any other tasks associated with the Finder. Like Time Machine. MenuBar Stats seemed to be causing my SideBar and Notifications to crash or freeze up.

Since disabling them both I've still had 2 total freezes and only one complete Kernal Panic and reboot. I've tried running Diagnostics and it comes up A O K. Looking forward to getting the Full Installer for the official build...

yeah my iStat menus has been fine too. I would try updating it fi you havent already maybe youre on a really old build

but even me being on an older build it worked fine

^^^I'm on an Intel Mac - A 2019 NcMP and have no issue with istat menus or RC1 or RC2.

Lou
My 2018 Intel Mac mini seems to be running fine while also running iStat Menus, but my 2020 M1 MBP does absolutely not last more than 10 minutes without completely crashing.

I tried beta 6 or 7 on my M1 Air besides bugs battery was sort of meh, can someone confirm if it's same as Monterey or Big Sur?

Do I get the sense this is going to be a smoother rollout than Monterey was? I'm tired of all of Monterey's quirks and foibles.
