Apple plans to release macOS Ventura alongside iPadOS 16 during the week of October 24, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his latest newsletter, Gurman said the first version of macOS Ventura adds support for new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, which are expected to be released in the "near future."

The new MacBook Pro models will be available with M2 Pro and M2 Max chip options, but other changes will be minimal, according to Gurman.

While he expects new iPad Pro models with the M2 chip to be announced in "a matter of days," Gurman said the new MacBook Pros are unlikely to be released alongside the next iPad Pro. Instead, he said the new MacBook Pros are "on track to launch in the near future" and noted that Apple has often launched new Macs in November, such as the original 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2019 and the first Macs with the M1 chip in 2020.

Gurman reiterated that Apple is working on an updated Mac mini with an M2 chip. Apple last updated the Mac mini with the M1 chip in 2020, and it continues to sell higher-priced Intel configurations with Core i5 and Core i7 processor options.

Apple still has no plans to hold an October event this year, according to Gurman:
Apple has traditionally ushered in its late fall iPad and Mac updates with splashy events, but this year's rollout will be more subdued. Apple will launch the products on its website without the kind of gathering we saw in September with the iPhone 14's debut.

My belief is that Apple has eschewed another event because of the fairly ordinary nature of the announcements. It's a slew of updates that amount to spec bumps or seen-before designs. Another factor: Apple is probably saving its marketing energy for the Reality Pro headset debut next year.
Apple's software engineering chief Craig Federighi and marketing chief Greg Joswiak are set to speak at the WSJ Tech Live event on the evening of October 25. It's likely that Federighi and Joswiak will discuss macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16 — hopefully including the controversy surrounding the new Stage Manager feature.

iOS 16.1 will likely launch alongside iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura with many new features for the iPhone, including Live Activities in third-party apps.

So it could be anytime within October 24 to October 28 which most likely is the same time iPadOS 16.1 will be released...

Apple hasn’t announced any more M2 macs aside from the MBA, and 13” MBP. Is the only Mac they update the 14”/16” MBPs now? Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Pro where are the updates before laptops. :D

Have no intention of upgrading M1 Max MPB.

Only thing I’m truly disappointed about is the high response rate of the display works against the high refresh rate; however it’s not worth selling a $4000 plus computer to for a minor upgrade.

How do you mean “the high response rate works against the high refresh rate”? How does that affect display performance? I’m asking because I have the same laptop (M1 Max MBP). Just curious what you mean by that.

Everything I own browses this site nicely.

Yes, but you can't be in the coolest clique unless you own everything Apple sells. ;)

Worse, any friends with X-ray vision may look inside and see that 1 is painted on the M chip instead of a 2. Heaven forbid friends & strangers discover you aren't using the 2.:eek:

M2 Mac Mini please.

i've not been on Mac for 10 years so will be good to come back. Didn't pay attention to versions so didn't realise a new version was still to come out. Perfect time to jump back in! :D My first Mac ran 10.5 (Leopard) and the last one I remember using was 10.8 (Mountain Lion) but I only used it for about 3 months.

I feel like we are reaching a peak with all of Apple's product line. Looking back products like the PowerMac G4 QuickSilver in 2001, the Mac, was a 17 year old product at that time. And in some ways, it felt like there was still more untapped potential. We were going into this era of the Mac/PC as a hub. But the iPhone, iPad and the Mac all seem like they are hitting a wall. The iPod certainly reached its own after 20 years.

Its truly hard to say what more really to expect from these products. Because we've been doing pretty much the same thing we did on them nearly 30 years ago, 40 if you go back to the original Apple II and IBM PC. Sure, there have been insane progress: graphical user interface, performance and mobility, communication and networking (5G), artificial intelligence (Siri, Google), video and audio. But a lot of that was in some ways inevitable.

The Apple Watch is another one I forgot to mention. I hope in 10 years, maybe the Watch can do things like tell you when you are sick and contagious and advise you to stay home and get medicine.

End of the month for Ventura? Anyone would think the latest beta is bombed with bugs??? Too long this has been in beta for. And for the more bog standard laptops... where's the desktops? Mac Pro and iMac (24", 27" & Pro). Apple NEEDS to scrap the 13" MacBook Pro with that meaningless Touch Bar anyway. Too many laptops in the lineup if the desktops cant get parallel updates with their MacBooks its getting rather tedious IMO. I can see Apple scrapping desktops to only create mobile products. I think they need to return to what Steve did back when he started back, by streamlining their Mac lineup. There's too many of one thing. MacBook Air and MacBook Pro for example are pretty much the same product in shape and form factor just different CPU and Display (size and technology). IMO Apple is running dry despite making one of the best ARM processors of today.

No Mac Pro this year if we don’t get an event. Apple didn’t complete their 2 year transition to Apple Silicon, like they originally planned.
I was really hoping they would meet this deadline. I'm stuck waiting for a Mac that can have tons of ram like the Mac Pro 2019.
