no the return policy is no questions asked for any reason. Just send it in oem packing after getting a rma from them.
it is the main reason I purchased my w3670 from them.. Since no one had posted that it works and it was a new release I did not feel like having to sell it on ebay at a loss. I use buy.com a lot their ebay store has about 400000 items. They have a bigger choice online instead of ebay, but I get at least 6.5% off any ebay computer item.
BTW superbiiz has very good prices but they are slow with returns. They will not take the cpu back as easy as buy.com will.
I buy tons of ram from them. I did only one return out of 50 plus purchases from them and it took 21 days for refund to post. It was a pair of 4gb sticks for a macbook pro. They also gave a full refund with no deduction I just paid to ship it to them. Right now both of my mac pros and both of my mac minis and my iMac all use ram from superbiiz
This bug would not let go. So... after dumping the ES X5570's I found a pair of Retail W5580's, very good price ($500/each) and went for it.
100% success... machine is surprisingly quicker for even the most basic tasks, even noticed faster boot time. Geekbench score reflected a nice boost as well, 14000 to 19000. That number should climb once I get my memory upgraded to 1333 Mhz DDR3.
I do feel pretty lucky indeed. Machine is rock solid as expected, has been folding 24x7.
I ended up getting 275 each for my 2.4's, about average more or less for eBay based on completed auctions. I ended up at $250/each after fees so the whole upgrade cost me $500 bucks, not too bad really.
Can you use a dual processor Mac Pro with only a single processor in place? For example, could I buy a X5680, use it alone for awhile and then install a second one in a few months?
Just wondering if anyone had a firmer answer to this question. I tried searching what nanofrog said but couldn't find it.
This seems to me at some point to be a good way of getting the upgrade done without a huge capital cost all in one hit.
Also I presume that you can't have mismatched processors so both the older ones would have to come out when the 1st replacement came in. And that then only 1 side of the RAM would be in operation?
