Donated all my organs :D as part of my driving licence (you get the option here in the UK to do it with the licence)

Just did a double donation of platelets (450ml) at Toronto's Canadian Blood Services clinic on College Street. Donation number 252 and counting.

Platelet plasma donor

I donated two units of platelets on Friday, May 9th.

It was too soon since my last donation to give plasma also. I've donated 6 units of platelets and 4 units plasma so far this year, been doing this for over 25 years.

In the past, I've made up to 11 donation in one year...and I have the scars to prove it!

The hospitals where I live perform a lot of organ transplantation and those people often require of blood products; liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, lung.

I also got one of my friends to go in and donate RBC again!

Six donors this year were on last year's Honor Roll as well: 7thson, Doctor Q, ironpw, rcappo, stridemat, and Timelordprime.

AlecEdworthy and cjmillsnun were on the Honor Roll in 2010.

Uffish Thought was on the Honor Roll in 2011.

j-beda and T-Will were on the Honor Roll in 2012.

It's nice to see the regulars back, as well as the donors who are new to this blood drive.

What's the apheresis equivelent of a "blue moon"? Since today is the first of May and the alternate Thursday I donate at the Warner Center American Red Cross Donor Center (home of the friendliest blood-draining crew in America!) , I'm set up to get in three donations this month.

I'm also in the bone marrow registry and actually matched to someone. And of course there's a donor dot on my license.

Number two is in the wind.

Haven't donated for May as it's in my "break" between periods where I can donate. Since my first donation last year I've been going regularly, and have donated about 7 times now. I'll keep donating while I'm able to do so.

MacRumors 2014 Blood Drive

After much trial and tribulation, I was able to enter a post on this thread. (literally hours waisted in frustration)

I gave 1 pint (number 36 since '72) Thursday May 22nd.

Tricia the phlebotomist for the first time successfully found a new vein in my left arm in the center. I have been using the most obvious one on the outside edge. Many times although this edge one pops up, it also rolls making for frequent bad pokes. Hopefully this new vein will work better. :)

Donation 253, Platelets 2 Units

On 22 May 2014, donated two more units of Platelets at Canadian Blood Services in Toronto. That was donation 253. I'm done for this month. Glad to have supported your blood drive in this minor way.

Hat Trick: nine units of platelets for the month!

Cumulative

In 5 years the MacRumors Blood Drives have recorded donations of 257 units of blood and platelets and plasma (155 blood + 99 platelets + 3 plasma) in 189 donations by 128 distinct donors. 30 of them donated more than once. We have recorded 4 new signups for the organ donor registry and 2 new signups for the bone marrow registry and heard from many forum members whose lives were saved by blood, platelet, or bone marrow donations.

Thanks everyone! Keep donating, and plan ahead for next year's MacRumors Blood Drive!

Well done everyone :)

Oops, missed the deadline by three days! Unfortunately the Finnish Red Cross Blood Service shut down a few of the smaller blood services (because of rising costs and lessened need of blood), including the one in my old home town, so I had difficulties timing my donation with having a flu and the schedule of the mobile blood service... Anyway, better late than never, I managed to donate 450 ml of whole blood today.

Btw, congrats to stridemat for participating 5 times in a row, I didn't quite make it! :)

We added your donation to the Honor Roll in the May 31 or After section. You, stridemat, and I have participated in each of the five MacRumors Blood Drives. spillproof has participated in four, and a number of forum member in three.
