We'd need to get a sponsor though, any thoughts?

As I said:
If two of three of the rumor sites add an extra banner (the ones you just sign up for, you get a few cents for every thousand visit or something) then funding should be no problem. Apple users are fanatics -- i doubt any active rumor site gets less than 200k visitors a month.

Arn, you know everyone at the other sites... Lets all find a way to get a Rumors booth at a MacWorld. My wife is a designer and can build models of some of the beloved rumored, yet never materialized Macs. Man, it would really be a blast. Waddaya Think?

That would be great!!!! Just think: if someone could track down whatever was used in the iWalk videos, that would draw lots of crowds too. We could even charge admission :)

We could have a mock up gallery...

On topic, everyone is always welcome to come hang out in central Florida with me and get heat stroke, sun poisoning, and sucked-dry-by-mosquitoes in one day!

I vote we do it in Boston, back where the MacWorld expo was before they moved it to Boston. There are plenty of local Mac tech companies here that we could get to show up too. Actually, we could do it as a day thing, in one of the hotels in the burbs around Boston, where it would be cheaper. Adobe has done this before (I attended a seminar of theirs in Burlington, MA).

Of course, I would have to show up on my Harley. :D

I think Boston would be really cool too. Great city, lots of people, and it's only 2 hours from where I live so I would be able to go :D

Boston Rocks!!

Pismo, where you hangin' in NH... i'm in Portsmouth or Nashua all the time?

I also have some great stories about a stripper in Manchester if your interrested? :)

I live in Enfield, NH and I'm a student at Keene State College studying computer sciences.

I'd do Boston...I've always wanted to go there...just had no reason ever before...

as for the South....no offense...but why bother?!

Im game for MWNY and possibly SF...I'm trying to work my way into this years MWNY as press. hehehe ya, I'm a freelance writer... :D I just gotta get an article published soon and then get an editor to write me a letter that I'm covering MWNY for the paper...EASY AS PIE ;)

Well, all this talk is fine, but someone HAS to step up to the plate here if its going to happen. Any takers? Who's not going to be that busy this summer? I'm out of luck there, but I know there are a lot of you who are students who might be able to do some foot work.

What's the booth availability?
How much?
Etc.....

I've done a few conferences at my company, designed booth displays and posters, its not simple and requires someone with some logistical acumen:D

You far overestimate the amount of money earned by banner ads...

1) If a site could just put up an extra banner ad and earn more money - they already would have

2) 200,000 impressions probably earns about $30-40 via Fastclick

We can deligate responsibilities out to different people. I know that I can find out how much a booth is, and my wife can help with the booth design. What we would need to do is find out who could make it, and whether other sites would get involved. If Arn could check with some other sites, that would be great. We would have to select a show, or place, and I think it would be cool to get TechTV involved. Leo is a geek, but hey, he promotes the platform really well. I still think this would be an absolute blast. Anyone who wants to work on this e-mail me with your phone number, and I will call you this weekend. Nothing like free cellphone minutes :p

I agree. But maybe we should look into sharing a booth with someone else. Not SpyMac, eww:mad:

But Arn, through the site do you have any connections with someone going to MWNY? And who's going to man the booth? I volunteer for that one, I'm getting a jump on that. I'm sure there will be lots of people who also want to do that, so we might have to come up with a system. Maybe we just man the booth for a day or half a day each, depending on how many of us want to go.

Also booth construction - take down. We'll need to rent one, to make one for a 10x10 booth would cost around $3k or more, I just did one for our company last year. We could make posters, have a few machines there with the site up and running.

I might be able to provide some contacts, if a display stand were needed for backing graphics or something like that.

3K! We will have to have some kind of fundraiser. I think the person who came up with the idea should get to man the booth. ;) I could build a 10x10 booth here for not a lot of money, but I don't know how I would get it to New York other than a Uhaul, and man that would suck to drive a Uhaul to New York. Well, we could partially build it here, and then fedex it to NY.

Also, my wife can do amazing things for not a lot of money. Damn that sounded really bad. Note to self, don't let Tara read this thread. Anyway, have you ever seen the show on TLC called Trading Spaces? She does interior design stuff like they do, and it is amazing what designs she can do for a little money.

We have got to do this. Arn? Other sites? Hey I agree on the whole spymac thing. Although I bet Stever would personally come by for a laugh over the iWalk. ;)

I can do it...I have lots of flexibility with my job...

and besides...I'm no longer using my vacation days next week to go to Oklahoma City anymore...so I will most likely be looking to spend them some other way...

oh...and I also have ticket with Delta Airlines that I'll have to use within the next year as well... ;)

ha ha ha!!!

don't worry...I won't ask her about what she can do if I ever make it to Tuscaloosa...he he he :D :p ;)

Well, I'm going to be In NY all summer (witha trip to CA) in late May. I can take care of any NY related things if we're going to do this for MWNY. I wont have a lot to do during June and I'd love to do this. I used to be Tech Director for my high school theater group, so if I have funds I can build a booth no problem. Then it'll already be in NY.
