hey looking good but... all the sudden post counts are gone.. wha?
They were there temporarily, until arn had time to remove them after the switchover.

They caused problems in the past, and were bound to in the future.

When I click the MSN button, I get the message "Please note that these functions require that you actually have the Windows Messenger application installed on your computer". Blasphemy!

Since the system now keeps track of which post replies to which does that mean I can limit my e-mail notifications to mail to me? I typically don't even read the replies since I often don't have time to look through dozens of replies looking for the one replying to mine.

rjrufo, If you want to take advantage of this wonderful capability, download AIM...then use iChatAV all the rest of the time. It's called a temporary work around, until arn figures out how to incorporate iChatAV into the website for us. Remember, AIM is not like loading AOL, that's where I draw the line!

rjrufo, just put you on my iChatAV Buddy List, hope to see / hear you online.

Thanks MacRAND, I may consider installing AIM, but in the past, I had problems and decided to stay away from it. Maybe those problems have been resolved.

You'll be able to see me online with iChat, but I don't have iChatAV yet, so you won't be able to hear me. I'll add you to mine as well.

What happened to the "Delete" option when editing threads? There used to be a checkbox that you could use to delete your post.

The more I browse, the more I don't like how the thread starter is listed directly under the thread title. I liked it better when there was a separate column for the thread starter. Having the thread starter right under the title is distracting when reading the title.

i dig it. i like the new posting interface and the hierarchal threads. much easier on the eyes, too. good stuff.

i was going to say i have to redo my 'tar to use the new sizes, but it's been time to change for a while anyway...

hmmmm (and I'm adding everything in these parenthesis because I got a 'The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters.' error)

That's a not so subtle way of telling you that "hmmmm" doesn't really add much to the conversation.

Think of it as a spam filter. ;)

:) actually I was just toying around with the new look and features not intending on posting, but it struck me funny when I got that error (when I previewed my 'post'). :D

I do like the new drop down menus and such. The look is clean, but have to agree with the others - maybe a tad bright. I also happen to like the old way 'quotes' were included in...well, quotes (bold and blockquoted).

Yeah the black on white text is fine for the windows but with everything else being white it's burning my eyeballs.

um, have any of you actually tried just hitting "send message to this person" or whatever it is?? becaue when i hit it, it opens a message window in iChat just fine. (iChatAV 2.1Beta)

sooo yeah.. give it a try

Agreed this works fine for me. It could be that if you have AIM installed that AIM will open. I do not have AIM and iChat opens the link just fine.

Hi Arn,

first of all: thanks for the great job ! I really appreciate that ! I know that its just such a lot of work to get a site and forums like this one running. So thanks for that again.

From my perspective the new forum style is great even so I miss the "old" OS X style. Great new features.

Cheers

Just a thought, but for all those who don't like the very white look, can't you turn your contrast down? I think it looks clean and makes everything much easier to read.

Or, put some sunglasses on!

iChat AV is a free download at Apple

I have seen you, but it was late on the East Coast so anyone in their right mind in Bean Towne was surely asleep. Phoenix is a least 2 or 3 hours earlier than Boston.
Had fun chatting with myself, between iBook and G4 Quicksilver - it got very silly talking to myself very quickly:)
Accepting my own advice, I installed AIM on the G4 too, and actually upgraded each to version 4.7, and provided the URL to click for an easy download.
To UPGRADE to iChat A V, just go to: http://www.apple.com/ichat/download/
I am still amazed at being able to talk, text and video conference with friends in UK living near London, half way around the world. Amazing.
Oh, I messed with AIM a little, and still don't "like" it as much as iChatAV, but no big deal.

For such a rich vein of Macintosh users there are a surprising number of people here who seem adverse to change, not large just surprising.

On Win XP it does seem a tad stark with the whiteness, but I will wait to pass judgement until I use it on my Mac when I get home.

I trust that has been helpfully non-committal. :)

Gosh, Krizoitz, I didn't realize how much we had in common! :D I look to be about ten posts and eight days of membership ahead of you, and my birthday's off by a few months, but otherwise: occupation, location, time of most recent post, and, like I said, post count and date of registration...

WM

Thats because you are my alternate personality...or maybe I am yours...so confusing...
