An interesting difference between many non-Apple "designed for Mac" keyboards and Apples' longtime design is the absence of an = key on the number pad. As a longtime Mac user, I rely on the = key a lot.
Yeh, it’s quite surprising Apple include it ..... because the way they pitch the price of their products .... how they conduct the running of their production factories and conditions for worker personel abroad ..... the idea of = or equal doesn’t seem to come into their ethos at all ...... Equal pay for men and women, fair pay/fair days work, equal chance for the rich and poor on the planet to afford to acquire just one of their poor-value-for-money products ..... without ending up in a debtor’s prison.
Apple’s obscene profit margins are a clear testimony to the truth of the above ..... not to mention every time they do a so called software ‘upgrade’ (downgrade more like!)or bring out a new device ..... it breaks compatibility and connection ability to a whole host of third party devices/software over the years .... and even Apple’s own products won’t talk or connect anymore.
How stupid is that for a policy to alienate your customers?! Unbelievable!
The equal sign on an Apple keyboard is clearly an ironical statement.
It used to denote a connection between two sides of an equation.
Computers were adopted and became popular because they were once, in their heyday great connectors and communicators between many devices, and third party producers could afford to spend time and money to keep up with changes they thought were improving things.
Alas, Apple’s leadership and software developers have ‘lost the plot’ ..... and just work to kill connective choice and cooperate with third party developers ..... who have now largely gone bust and the sensible ones given up working with Apple ..... because they know it will end in tears 99% of the time.
=/equal opportunity + profit + caring + sharing isn’t in Apple’s equation anymore, or ethos ..... driven out by hard nosed accountants and the worst type of greedy people Big Business attracts.
Sneak into Tim Cooke’s office ..... you’ll probably find out his keyboard has the =/equal symbol missing!
