So was it 9:41 a.m. Pacific? Can I get one
for 12:41 p.m. Eastern!!?

Never heard of that reference until this article or just noticed it.

A shirt with the date of the launch might have been better.

From Scott Forstall, "We design the keynotes so that the big reveal of the product happens around 40 minutes into the presentation. When the big image of the product appears on screen, we want the time shown to be close to the actual time on the audience's watches. But we know we won't hit 40 minutes exactly."

9:41 has been prominent in Apple marketing for more than a decade now. Go look at any screenshot of iOS, iPadOS or macOS on Apple's website. 9:41. watchOS is 10:09 for analog symmetry.

it has been on or referenced on nearly every Apple product, Apple stock image, or piece of marketing since.
Fun fact: it actually used to be 9:42, as it was on the original iPhone. For whatever reason they changed their minds and made it 9:41 after a few years.

But the best way to hide something is putting it in broad daylight. *shrug* It was news to me too. I've read IMDB for the goofs and trivia, and was astounded to read that one director puts clocks with the same time in most of his movies. Movie after movie, there are some clocks with the same time on them. It was quite a while ago so I don't remember who, and I was shocked to see that small detail be so important to a director, and so missed by the majority of people. George Lucas had references to THX, and some other minutia in every movie he's made. One director always had memorabilia from the university he graduated from somewhere in every movie. Hidden in plain sight, and so many totally missed it. We humans can see everything, and yet miss so much.

The Visitor Center really does not live up to the old Corporate Store.

Yeah, I was underwhelmed. I bought some of the kitsch, but regretted some of it. I passed on the cheesy pens, and some of the more crazy cheap stuff. The mothership t-shirt wasn't available (BOO Apple!) but I got the 'I visited Apple and that's all I can say about it', which I thought funny. I'm sure it's quite a thrill to work with Apple and there are NDA's flying around like crazy for many things. *shrug* For as secretive as they are, it's amazing how accurate the leaks are. It's like they can't keep any secrets. Hah! I remember reading of job postings for corporate security and wondered what kind of person they were looking for. Spy v spy? :D:p:cool:

It’s the time Steve Jobs announced the iPhone. Coincidentally, 9.41 is the number of its seconds it takes to read to the article’s second paragraph, where it tells you.

Also about as long as it takes to see all that my question had been answered already.
