Well I’m your huckleberry then, because I just inherited my grandmothers iPhone 6 from 2015 and though EOL’D at least a year ago, there’s another update knocking at the door that won’t take no for an answer. …which is nuts, because it already runs a clean iOS install with about a 4-5 second lag between touch and response, making it practically unusable. I think they need to pull the plug on updates sooner, rather than later, because 6 years of upgrades effectively destroys these things. …or just allow people to downgrade back to the working device configuration that they paid for so it can be used as an ipod where you wouldn’t want to bring your phone. lol yeah right…. these things are all destined for landfills.but rewards people that hang onto their iPhone for 8 years and complain about Apple's planned obsolescence because they can't get free out of warranty Genius Bar support for their iPhone 3GS
Why would you do that? Apple — and other phone makers — design their phones to be better than the previous year's, but not better enough to be worth the upgrade price. This keeps them from having angry customers who bought last year's model a few months ago. They're always targeting people who bought their phones more than 2 years ago....it punishes people like me that get a new iPhone every year ...
Mostly because I get a good amount of use out of my phone, particularly the camera (the component that typically does receive significant improvements every year). I like technology and the cost is easy for me to justify because after trading in, it's a cost of maybe $7-800/year (not the full price of the phone) to have the latest mobile tech. Also my girlfriend gets my last phone so I keep her device within 2 years old which is a bonus. Why would you do that? I hear you! Good luck. I also recently found out about backmarket.com and that is definitely where I will be purchasing refurbs for my children when they’re original iPhone SE’s die…I could really use this. My iPhone 12 Mini doesn’t need replacing, but I have a family member whose 6s is dying and could really use a new phone.
Mine’s still good enough for netflix 😂Now my old iPad 2....that is unusable.

Yup, I got an iPad pro in 2020 and the 2nd gen is now just a netflix machine. Surprised it’s still supported, though.I took it to work last year to watch the World Series. The MLB app still works!
i have a 7th gen now, so the 2nd gen just sits a box in the basement.
That's fine, but shouldn't you be "punished" if you're doing the opposite of what's expected and even recommended? Should all phone makers adjust their practices to cater to the few people who buy new phones every year?Mostly because I get a good amount of use out of my phone, particularly the camera (the component that typically does receive significant improvements every year). I wasn't talking about Apple punishing me, rather iMazing's pricing model. If I buy two phones in two years and you buy one phone in two years, we are both getting the same use out of iMazing but I have to pay twice as much for software licenses. If the argument for this is "if you're buying a new iPhone every year so you deserve to pay double" then I also assume you think bananas at the grocery store should cost a different amount for everyone based on their incomeThat's fine, but shouldn't you be "punished" if you're doing the opposite of what's expected and even recommended? I put off getting a new phone for as long as possible, partly because I don't want to spend the money, and partly because I don't want the hassle of moving everything to my new phone. And yes, Apple makes that pretty easy! So when I do get a new iPhone it's a nice upgrade, the transfer is just something I have to deal with every few years, and I've made a good investment that will do everything I want for years to come.
No, my argument for this is that you know what the deal is, you know that companies aren't going to change practices for extremely rare edge cases, and so you make your choices. It's called a free market, and you're free to buy a new iPhone every day if you like. You're just not free from the consequences. If the argument for this is "if you're buying a new iPhone every year so you deserve to pay double" then I also assume you think bananas at the grocery store should cost a different amount for everyone based on their income
I think I will start buying a new iPhone every day, but because I want to, not because you suggested itNo, my argument for this is that you know what the deal is, you know that companies aren't going to change practices for extremely rare edge cases, and so you make your choices. I agree with this. My 3G slowed way down on its final update (whichever it was). My SE is allowed to update to IOS 15 I believe, and it’s already slow enough on 14.…which is nuts, because it already runs a clean iOS install with about a 4-5 second lag between touch and response, making it practically unusable. You know what, I didn't think of that. It doesn't look like iMazing is going away any time soon, may be worth it to stock up on licenses that last a few years at a low cost per. Thanks for the great idea, friend!Question: do you need to use the licenses immediately or can they be saved?
Have you considered buying the "2 license" edition (same price as 1 year, at least in my country) - and waiting to make use of the second device license when you purchase it the following year? Or buying even more "in bulk" with them... not a perfect solution, but an idea that might save money.
I have mine set to just do automatic backups overnight. Don’t have any issues backing up to an external drive.I've been using iMazing for a long time, it is extremely useful in many ways. I highly recommend it.
My only gripe is that backups can take a very long time; especially when using an external (even a fast) USB drive. For that scenario, you're better off making your first backup to direct disk, then moving it over for later incremental. I hope they continue to improve the backup speed.
The rest is really really useful.
