I dunno how to define a Hertfordshire accent...probably just an upmarket North London

It's better than Essex though...

Although, of course, relegation could have its own severe metaphysical ramifications, I suppose. :)
Indeed – we'd end up playing Gillingham next season. It doesn't get much more metaphysical than that.

To be sure to be sure. The Irish accent is much sexier than Geordie, Scouse, Bromie, Cockney or other English accents ;)
Might I suggest to MANCDRIVE that, if a northern accent is what he's looking to acquire, that he perhaps investigates a Yorkshire accent? For some reason, I can imagine a Leeds brogue suiting him... :D

British accent...

I already have my Safari spell check set to British English because spelling colour and flavour without the 'U' is considered improper and lazy by the British; and I've begun to agree on most political issues with the likes of hardcore liberals like pseudobrit and skunk.

I'm hardly a hardcore liberal. Whatever that means. I'm in for my share of polluting, meat-eating, religion and I'm an unrepentant capitalist.

I'm also mostly Irish- and German-American, but I've got 1/8 English that just throws the other two into fits.

FJ

Agreed. The only one that comes close to be as sexy as an Irish accent is a good Carolinian one (is there a difference in accent between NC and SC?). There used to be a really hot professor at my school with that accent, but she moved back to NC. :(

Also, a "New England" accent (I guess Bahstin or Ro' Dylin' would be the best examples) is really an improved "English" accent.

NBC's Hit Show - Fraiser

Does anyone remember the character - Simon Moon, played by actor Anthony La Paglia on the show Fraiser? Anyway, I really liked his accent; it was perfect. I wish I could talk just like him. :)

If you want to discuss pleasant voices, that happen to be british, I think Michael Gambon has a fantastic voice. example (link has mild swearing, taken from movie L4yer Cake)

James Earl Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Sean Connery too.

More "locally", MR's skunk has a particularly lovely voice.
