That's funny. I'm here to answer questions and help Mac users and learn things about Mac OS X that I didn't know.
I have no influence on the site.
You have no influence on the site because you choose not to.
It's THAT attitude, that makes web site fail.
Well, MacRumors is more successful than ever before, so I don't see failure anytime in the near future. What contributes to its success is a large number of members that have the attitude that they can positively influence the site and its members, and take steps to do so. That includes helping members by answering questions and helping the site leadership by reporting posts that should be reported. If you elect not to participate, that's your choice.

It's nowt to me, but the fact that the number of moderators seems to be increasing faster than membership is probably diluting things down.

It's nowt to me, but the fact that the number of moderators seems to be increasing faster than membership is probably diluting things down.

Taking the time when I became as mod and last month when the latest new batch of moderators came on board.

Using averages from 6 months before those points in time then on average the new membership that the moderators have had to deal with has grown by 86%. In that time the number of moderators has grown by 62.5%.

Working it out as an average load on each moderator then the membership has grown by 14.5% in that time.

Therefore what seems to be the case and what is reality do not match. i.e. the membership is growing faster than the moderators rather than visa versa.

To be honest, I think the mods do a pretty good job. I don't visit too many of the boards so it may vary, but the iPhone board (where I mostly browse) is pretty decent, and the mods usually seem to make fair decisions. Sure, there are a few that will seem unfair, but they aren't robots, they're just people.

Just out of curiosity, how does one become a mod anyway?
