I realize that you don't agree with my thinking, but as I said, those are my honest reasons for the way I do it. It's consistent with how I've always used my ipods since my 1G in 2001, not some attempt to be sneaky.
I upload every 3-4 days (which is how many runs it takes my ipod to run down). Every time I upload I jump in to the lead, and then gradually lose that lead over the next few days. My milage is consistent and predictable, and I just don't see it as "coming out of nowhere."
well, i guess we all different opinions, i was letting you know mine. it has the same principle as "coming out of nowhere", mainly b/c it's not our job to add up how much you run in 4 days. that's the whole point of having the ipod, to do the math for you, and for your challengers. but if that's how you want to play, then so be it.
If that's what you feel was unfair, then fine. But do realize that was not my objection then, and it is not my objection now. IMO counting walking "milage" that is just part of daily life is invalid because it has no relation to training (especially for a competitive college racer like you).
I (and I would suspect most people participating in these challenges) think of these challenges as an attempt to measure how much we are training, not our total time in motion for the month. If enough people disagree with me on that, we can change our collective understanding and all start wearing our nike+ sensors all day, but I think that's silly because it's not meaningful data as far as training goes.
well, you might see this as training, but training for what? i dont see this as training, and that's why i'm fine with walking miles. i have my own college training, and i have a coach to help me with that.
when it says "most miles in 30 days", if you want to walk 300 miles, go ahead, and i'll admit that you beat me. pace doesn't matter. this is a challenge of who can do the most miles, in any way they can.
and as far as the speed challenges, i just ran a 5:12 mile, and the ipod froze at 0.99 miles. totally froze. the music kept playing, but no buttons worked. this has never happened to me before. i guess i just ran too fast for the ipod
