I should probably mention that I have Nike+ shoes and that the sensor seems to be very consistent, but I can notice inaccuracies of up to around 3% when I change running styles.

interesting. 3% is still too much for serious training purposes, but I'd kill for that right now. I'm just at a loss as to how this can be so inaccurate, and what to do about it.

So i just bought one of the nike+ kits partly to paricipate in the challenges. I registered through nikeplus.com. so i have an account but i'm having a problem with the automatic itunes syncing.

When i attatch the ipod and click the Nike+ tab, at the bottom there is a button to create an accout which links to nike's site. And it takes you the page that I already used to register. But I already have an account. There is no place in iTunes for me to input that info to set up auto upload? What am I doing wrong?

Well, Im not in the march challenge, but I hope to be in the next one. However, I did go running for the first time in about 3 months tonight. Felt great, except for the the slight frozen roads, which put me on my rear twice. Ah well all in a nights run. It felt so good to be back at it.

My nike+ took a dump again today. I'll be calling about a replacement this afternoon.

It was super nice out today, so I decided to run outdoors. Ran a 8.5k, felt freakin' great. Nike+ was about a kilometer behind me before it decided to stop receiving, at 6.5k.

I had a bad week with my Nike +.
I only go it to work for run run all last week. One day I forgot it, another day I thought I had lost the part that plugs into the ipod, but later found it in the bottom of my gym bag, the next day I had it all good, and the transceiver fell out of my Switch Easy RunAway case (I wasn't able to find it until after I was done running my workout, which was a miracle, it wasn't broken and the case was alright too.), and then my ipod's battery was dead the last time I tried.
Today I was pleased with it for a change. I did a 60 min. workout and ran 8.25 mi on the ipod, which for once was actually a little over estimated I think, but it made me happy that it did not have any problems after all the trouble I had been having with it.
Once again I have fallen way behind in the challenge. Shame. Hopefully next month I can pull it together and get it working on all of my runs!

I can not believe only 13 people are actually running. The challenge totals 30 folks who had logged miles from February and it seems that only 13 of those folks are actually running. There was close to 60 that were signed up in January - how soon we fail our resolutions...;)

Come on everyone, let's get moving...;) I can still add any folks that want to be included now and in the future. Just let me know...

On a side note - any known cures / preventions for blisters on toes? I imagine it is caused by friction with the socks...

I've started to use lotion after every shower. It seems to make it better.

I suggest getting a pair of SmartWool running socks. I have a pair, they're super comfy and have a lot of support plus they have this slick thick spot at the back so your shoes don't rub. They are advertised as blister free. I've never really been a victim of blisters, so I can't really back up the claim but they feel super.

vaseline and/or band-aids over the blisters.

After yet another calibration and repositioning on my laces, my nike+ is finally accurate. Over 4 measured miles today the today reported was 4.02, so I'll take that! :D And then on the way home its measurement was also accurate to within a couple of hundredths total over 2.5 miles. I'm not entirely confident this will last (may be worse on hills?) but for now, I'm excited. :)

I hear ya. In my youth I never had the problems I am having now - chafing, blisters, muscle aches, etc...let this be a lesson to all you youngsters out there...it is easier to stay in shape than to fall out of it...;)

Thanks all for the tips.

Oh I hear yah. University killed me, no school sports, competitive hockey was done, I turned into the blob. It was horrible.

About the socks, I should have said I have several pair, they're great socks. They breath amazingly well, cool when you're hot, and warm when you're cold. Freakin' sweet, I suggest getting some of their average run of the mill day socks too. I probably have about five pair of them as well, they're just wonderful. I'm a geek, I've never got excited over socks before.

oh, no, it's much easier to fall out of shape than to stay in it. But, it's easier to stay in shape than get back in to it! ;)

I hope you're ducking for cover as you say that...

Hehehe.. indeed, are you trying to mock us? :)

I win and lose about 30 pounds per season, but I NEVER go underweight. I just get near my good shape when I'm ending the running season.

I'd love to join the running challenges, but I will have to wait until April, got injured playing soccer.

Hope you keep this running club until next month!

no i'm not mocking anybody. just stating that for some people gaining weight is just as hard as loosing it.

believe me, people get made fun of for being too skinny too

I'm running a little but just not getting round to uploading it very often.

I'm also doing other things at the gym - a class or two and the cross trainer or skiiing machine in addition to the treadmill - so my mileage/calorie burning makes depressing reading at times :(

I have Nike+ shoes (since it worked out I needed new trainers about that time but I didn't run enough to buy decent shoes at that point) and it seems to be pretty accurate. The time stays right compared to the treadmill but the distance can vary slightly.

I'm reckoning that's partly because even on a treadmill set at a steady pace, there are points where your stride quickens or stretches as a matter of course. When I glance at the screen when particular bouncy songs come on, I can see the speed picking up :)

well, for me, both are about as equally hard. i'm trying to gain weight......

I was that guy at your age - be careful what you wish for...;)

I was 6' 2" in HS and weighed 155-160....flash forward to before I got the nike+ (December) and I was 225 same height....now I am 207 so it is working...just be careful what you wish for...;) You may just get it...
