well, after flirting with nike+ perfection for 12 miles the other day, it reverted to form today, logging my ~4.5 mile run close to 5 miles. The only real difference is that I was running a lot slower this morning (dead tired!).

The nike+: accurate at any speed you want, as long as it's the speed that you calibrated it at!

Got my kit today and did my first run. :D

Please add me, nike id: giganten.

Done - if you want an age based one then let me know...

I'm running a little but just not getting round to uploading it very often.

I'm also doing other things at the gym - a class or two and the cross trainer or skiiing machine in addition to the treadmill - so my mileage/calorie burning makes depressing reading at times :(

I have Nike+ shoes (since it worked out I needed new trainers about that time but I didn't run enough to buy decent shoes at that point) and it seems to be pretty accurate. The time stays right compared to the treadmill but the distance can vary slightly.

I'm reckoning that's partly because even on a treadmill set at a steady pace, there are points where your stride quickens or stretches as a matter of course. When I glance at the screen when particular bouncy songs come on, I can see the speed picking up :)

Great work. I have noticed variances on the treadmill as well. Keep up the cross training as that will balance the lateral attack of just running nicely.

I was that guy at your age - be careful what you wish for...;)

I was 6' 2" in HS and weighed 155-160....flash forward to before I got the nike+ (December) and I was 225 same height....now I am 207 so it is working...just be careful what you wish for...;) You may just get it...

in HS i was 5'11" and weighed about 142 or so......now i'm about 150-152. gained muscle though, which has helped my running (since i'm more mid-distance, and not distance).

but i don't think i'll get fat though. my dad is 58 years old, about my height, and weighs around 155 pounds or so......but he does have a little tire i guess. i tell him that anyway :p

twood, your milage is going up a couple times a day, only a few miles at a time... are you doing a lot of short runs?

yes i am. actually i had 1 main run yesterday morning. around 6 miles. then i went for a walk with my girlfriend, and a light jog later than that.

this is normal for me, i just usually don't upload that much during the day. for some reason i felt like uploading during the day yesterday.

If you want to join - hop on in.
I'll join in the well over 30 challenge. A little late, but I've decided to start my training for a half-marathon in June, so this is good motivation to stick with it.

My Nike+ name is mremw.

Thanks!

Can you please add me to the over 30 challenge? Thanks for taking this work on, Ziwi. BTW, if you haven't found a solution to blistering, I found that duct tape on the outside of your socks makes great protection. Of course, it's nearly impossible to get the sticky off your socks when you're done, but that beats blisters in my book.

RedHook is added.

EMW - I tried mremw, Mremw, MREMW and it is not finding it...I have noticed ti is case sensitive so maybe I am missing something. Let me know or just PM me your email to try that one...

MRemw should work. I forgot the case-sensitivity.

I only get the red background, the white chamfered box in the middle of the screen with the word Connected. Still nothing....

The site hasn't loaded this morning and until now; could be a regional internet connection problem thingie. I waited 5 minutes sitting here and looking stupid. Argh.

nm: problem fixed. :)

I've found that sometimes it takes a while for a new best to make it into the challenges, so check back in a few hours and see if it's there.

well i just checked it and it still hasn't changed. i'm not even going to waste my time trying to get faster times on this thing

You can add me as well: TheChamp616. I'm 23 years old (if that matters). (Also, that's my Nike ID, but I don't know what list you are adding me to? lol...is there anyway for me to check/view it? Thanks!)

I've been running with it for about 2 months now, but just saw this thread for the first time. Usually run about 6-7 miles a day at around 7:45 min/mile. Thanks guys!

P.S. I've also noticed differences running on a treadmill and outside. I have Asics Gel Nimbus VIII's and use the Marware pouch for my sensor. The treadmill usually logs about an extra 10% more distance for a typical 6 mile run. I try to use it as minimally as possible b/c I hate running indoors. Hence, I've only run on the treadmill probably 3-4 times this past winter, the rest of the time outside (which is no small feat, considering I live in MN, -20 degrees windchill gets a little nipply :)

twood: all of us old slow guys are crying that your sub-20 5K didn't get posted! :p

Really, though, that's some nice work!
