On the subject of Podcasts, anyone else hear MacRumors get mentioned on Diggnation? Just a small mention, but it was still there!

There are quite a few Mac podcasts up already, but I don't listen to them (I'm a TWiT and Diggnation guy). Do they discuss rumors? If so, I don't see why Apple wouldn't allow MR in the iTMS.

I would subscribe. Just one show of 5-10 mins a week highlighting all the latest rumours or when something interesting happens would be good.

Could you imagine what kind of podcast could be recorded during an Apple event, and then published within minutes of the end of the event?

Alright, well, I'm going to post a demo podcast here soon so everyone can get a feel for what a MacRumors podcast could be like. Perhaps after the demo a mod or two will be interested in becoming involved and the admins might promote the project. :D

See you guys in ~8 hours. (Well I've got to sleep sometime!) :p

I just finished my demo. I did the news from August 11, 2005.

It is very rudimentary and I'm obviously willing to clean it up if I'm going to be doing this. I feel that I am a pretty good public speaker and I was going for kind of an NPR style broadcast here. If you'd like to have things changed please tell me.

You can listen to this at http://starbuckssam.com/macrumors/aug1105.mp3

I don't know how to set up an RSS feed, but if y'all are willing to help me, I'm glad to get this finished.

Great job, Sam. I like that you included macpoll results too! :)

You do have a good voice for this. Relaxed, not too "announcery". There are many online articles about turning your recording into a podcast. You did the hard part already. Do you need links to sites that tell how to do the rest?

We pick on people who spell it MAC instead of Mac. Now I can imagine people nitpicking each other about pronunciation too! For example, I say "oh ess ten", not "os ess ex", and I think the former is preferred. And what's the best way to read a long quoted section in a news story and identity it as a quote (visually we use indenting and italics), considering that there are sometimes real quoted words or phrases within quoted sections (example)?

Alright, I've finished my demo. Granted, I may not have the best voice for podcasting, but I'm working on it.

This demo has a different style than StarbucksSam's, obviously has a different voice, and covers the news for the whole week (past, that is ;)). It should be modem-user friendly since it's only about 2 megabytes for five minutes of speech. Here's the demo podcast.

StarbucksSam and I plan on creating one together depending on the feedback we get for these two (although my exclusion due to my non-podcasty voice won't be a total shock). We're not looking to compete, we're looking to take good qualities of both and combine them together. :D

First of all, I want to say GREAT job to both of you guys. Excellent podcasts. If something like this became official, I'd suscribe hands down.

I do have only one minor complaint (for both podcasts). They sound entirely too scripted. Both of you have excellent voices for this sort of thing, but it sounds as if you're reading the news straight off the web browser. Put a little more emotion into it, and you're good to go.

Of course, if you do the show together, it allows for some interaction and spontaneity, which would vary things up a bit. I'm really looking forward to the finished version! :D

Well, in response to the overwhelming demand (okay, so not quite OVERWHELMING), Chase and I have created Appleopolis Broadcasting. We'll be posting podcasts very soon with all sorts of Mac News. We're waiting for permission from multiple sites to syndicate their news before we start making our broadcasts, but you CAN see our site:

Great job StarbucksSam , even though I have yet to listen to any (stupid dial-up) but still to go through the process and setting up a website gets a gold star from me. When/if the fruits of your endeavor becomes on iTunes then I will defiantly add it to my already growing list of podcasts, already at 14 and counting.

Monotone is baaad.

While you both did great, you need to have some emotion! Some funny comments that won't start a flame war, etc.

I've done public speaking and if you want some tips, PM or email me. But otherwise, I wouldn't subscribe because I'd just... fall.... asleeeeapp......
;)

Hey guys and thanks for the support. We're going to start fresh this week with the podcast, so one of us will post back when we're officially in iTunes. Our plans right now are to report the Mac news and rumors from various sites, but also include conversation about what's going on in the MacRumors community (think of it as MacRumors with extended news and rumors as it's fit). We're doing this independently of MacRumors so they have no liability to the podcast, but we're definitely interested in any mods or members that would like to be involved.

EDIT: We're holding off on the project.

Whoa!! What happened? Did Apple Legal get to you already?
:D

Uh, uh... sure. ;)

Right now there's a lot of discussion, but it looks like someone's got something planned while someone else needs to talk to that someone and might do a something (I mean podcast) of their own (as of right now I don't know how much I should disclose, but quoting Mudbug in this thread would do). We'll see how it all turns out in the next day or two, but either way it looks like there will be a mac news and rumors podcast of some sort to come.

I hope you guys still do something with appleopolis. Even if macrumors is planning a site podcast of its own, you guys could have a different take on things. I'll keep watching your site. I hope you can get something together :)

There's Inside Mac Radio podcasts. They sometimes touch on mac rumors.

Ok, what about the podcast that rendezvouscp and StarbucksSam were looking at?

They put it on hold a few weeks ago.... any update? They said there were discussions?
