Amazing how people were so pissed he pulled an iPod out... and they thought it would suck. Wow.

What I find most impressive is how it's come full circle. The folks that were angry about the iPod wished that Apple had worked more on the Newton instead. They wanted Apple to come out with a better PDA, a better tablet computer.

Well, guess what the iPod has become, in steps...

From the original iPod, leading to the iPod touch, the iPhone, the iPad, we've been taking incremental steps.

I just wonder if that was Steve's brilliant plan all along. ;)

All that really shows is just how stupid and bratty the majority of people are, and rarely think outside of what they know. And that once again, Steve was right and "they" were wrong. They, being the snotty apple community who are never pleased with any new direction Apple takes. If people like them were running the company, Apple would still be a niche high end computer manufacturer primarily known for it's education sales.

Congratulations!
Right after Google and Gmail, this is probably the site I check most often (somewhat sad, but true).

Keep up the great, insightful work.
And thanks.

Awesome, congrats! This is always the first place I go for apple info :) Go Arn!

Ah, but my favourite of all the 1,000,000 threads? #500, of course.

Ah, miss the good old days. I was only 13 in 2001. Didn't care so much for the media, technology wasn't super crazy like now and what people thought.

I wish those days back for some reason...

Simply... astonishing.
I've been here a while and it's been a real treat watching/helping this community grow. No doubt indicative of Apple's growth.

Congrats Arn and all the mods and forum members who make this not only a daily read, but my lone Mac-related news source.
Keep up the good work all.

Thank you!
