Wow, this is really rather Meta

An article talking about commenters who commented on other articles?

I do take issue with being flatly labeled a critic of Tim Cook.

He has done many things I very much like and many things I do not like.

It’s much more on a spectrum as opposed to the binary that is being laid out here.
Sure, you or anyone will have a 'spectrum' of views. You're more than just the "Gimpbook" forum member. But, at the same time, if you don't want to be reduced to a critic -- You could have made a more nuanced post.

That said, the lively binary discussions are what make MR, is it not? You can get news and editorial opinions from many "Mac News" sites, but there's only one place to go for discussion, right?

Celebrate the fact that you aren't some boring middle of the road or "both sides" type person, right?

No argument there! But the idea that Apple is some kind of outlier seems a bit far fetched.
Outlier? No, but I did hope they would value their privatization and distinct distinction to Android and Google that they didn’t use advertisement revenue and sell your data.

Is a shame that the shell is completely different but the core is getting more similar to Microsoft or Google one update at a time.

For selfish reasons, they don't sell our data. Selling it would be a self-defeating business model. Keeping it private is what makes it valuable to them. Sellers have to use their platform to get ads in front of, hopefully, the right people. Ultimately, sellers learn more about us from web site affiliate links such as from MacRumors than they so from companies like Apple, Google and facebook.

Well yea, I mean that’s what everyone does. Selling our data I mean the access and use of it.

Jokes on them I never use affiliate links 😋 alongside AdGuard or Adblocking.
