I rather like that. Soft gradients warm my heart. Not sure on the font rendering though, but I guess thats just some settings on your computer or Photoshop (or whatever you used).

That's Windows font rendering for ya. That and for whatever reason "Web safe" fonts usually don't look the same in certain Adobe apps as they do in a browser.

This design would certainly get the job done and since the layout is pretty much the same I know it wouldn't take more than a day (or less) of work on a style sheet for it (aka CSS) and a bit of tweaking to the page markup to get it going. Really just a matter of "{background-image}" for the most part.

i like it. this should definitely inspire the future of the site, imo.

and an update is long overdue.

I don't want to sound like a person that does not like this, but, where is the Mac Software Deal sidebar?

Also, I like the new rating/commenting look!

Finally, so how are you supposed to left sidebar sections (thy have the dot, so I am assuming?

Love the RSS Button.

Nice! I'd rather the heading bars to be a little less shiny, but otherwise it looks great with a minimal amount of work!

Win, wouldn't we say, bigwigs? :D

It's real sexy and I hope to see it but the corners need a bit more smoothing.

Looks very good, when I first saw your design I liked it but the MR logo seemed a bit out of place. With the update it looks a lot better.

Would be quite good to see how it works on a forum page, fancy applying the same theme and posting that

agreed. this design certainly has some potential. i like the updated one even more. wonder if red would be better than blue though...

unlike other websites(Cough*yahoo*Cough) if they actually changed it to this it would look good! well done

Keep on dreaming.

Macrumors hasn't been updated since the stone age. And as long as it is something that is not built into vBulletin, most likely any suggestions for improvements will never see the day light. Search the forums for the countless posts (that date years back) of users requesting things like ability to pause the spy or slightly larger avatars. I gave up long long time ago. Everyone should too.

I wouldn't completely give up on it. I'm fairly certain that there's interest in updating both vBulletin and the look & feel of the site. However, there's a lot of in-house created code that requires quite a bit of testing. I suspect Arn would like 100% assurances that everything will work, as this is his baby. So "upgrades" are nothing to be taken lightly.

Personally, I would love to see a couple different style sheet themes available for users to choose from.
