Yes, I've heard of Mac Mini. It's a lunchbox with a computer in it. Its size relative to regular desktop computers that could hold 20 Mac Minis, is what makes it "mini". But this is a 7.85" iPad. If that's "Mini" next to a 9.7" one, then the iMac 21.5" is an iMac Mini, or possibly iMac Nano, the MBP 13" is MacBook Pro Mini, and let's not forget the MacBook Air Mini 11".

There was also the iPod mini, 2004-2005, that was smaller than the "classic" iPod at the time, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod. The iPod mini was effectively replaced by the significantly smaller and flash-based iPod nano in September 2005.

Thus I will not be surprised if they call the 7.85" iPad "iPad mini".

iMac with a 30"-40" display would be awesome. Especially if it had infrared. No more TV needed. And think of the screen real estate.

I don't think there is a significant market for this product. But I would want one for sure. My dream iMac would 30-40" with 4k screen resolution.

Would Apple ever think of re-introducing an optical drive to the Mac Mini or is that wishful thinking?! :)

I think CDs are on their way out :D I have an external CD/DVD combo, but used it only once.

iPad mini a.k.a iPhone maxi.

I always thought of the iPhone as a miniature iPad that fits in your pocket :D

They might end up going with Mini, sure, but given its history it's not exactly a fresh name... it's lame and predictable (Apple isn't too keen on being associated with either). The iPod Mini was mini in every way... it had 1/5 of the storage capacity of its big brother. At this point we don't know for sure that the iPad 7.85" is going to be a lesser product in any way other than screen size. Storage capacity and features will be in the same ballpark.

I think Safari will run a lot snappier on the new iPad mini, 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini. :)

Seriously though, I'm most curious if there will be a quad-core processor in the Retina MacBook Pro, or if Apple will be cheapskates by putting a dual-core in there.
I guarantee there will be... They will probably need one just to help support retina display.
