Is anything but the iPad Mini roundup working for anyone? When I select the roundup tab, it shows a list for mini, rMBP, etc. but instantly jumps to the iPad roundup. Can't get to any of the others. Is it just me?

After the iPhone 5 scratches, going through several iPad 3 that were sent in for repairs and today buying a new nano only to have the paint peeling off around the screen and some paint bubbles on the back, anything new coming out from now I'm not looking forward to until they get there act together

If there is such a thing as a bad lottery ticket, you should buy one.

Because they're different sizes. And different price ranges, the big question is whether they'll price the iPad mini cheap enough to really compete with the kindle fire 7 HD ($199). iPad is a strong product but this time around there's the potential for the mini to seem like a "me too" product, particularly if it has a lower resolution than the kindle, as expected.

Cheap enough to compete with the Fire?? Why would the iPad mini compete with the Fire? They are different products. One is a tablet computer, the other is an e-reader. Not anywhere near comparable on specs/software/capabilities.

Hmm. Can you go down and select another one? ie. don't click on the tab itself?

Awesome rumour round up.
Just one little note. You don't know 100% for certain Apple will release an iPad mini. No one outside of Apple does. It's just a very good educated guess at this point in time.

I fixed up the MacRumors image too. Just so everyone knows how it really is. I don't blame MacRumors though. Everyone can make a mistake. They are only human. Just fixing up their little mistake.

English spelling.

US spelling.

I put both in as this is a US based website and people might prefer the US spelling here.

Yes, but people want 7" mainly because it is cheaper and Apple and cheap where never synonyms. The ipad mini has only a real chance for widespread adoption if they start a prize war with the kindle fire so the only thing Apple can do is to be just slightly above the prize of the kindle fire, if the set prizes too high people will just by a kindle fire if the prizes are set to low, Apple will ruin their premium device image and the 10" ipad sales in the long run.
Apple doesn't need to start a price war. They have an ecosystem that's unmatched and, well, the Apple logo.

Would Apple ever think of re-introducing an optical drive to the Mac Mini or is that wishful thinking?! :)
Never happen.

er.. because the fire is a tablet and the 'kindle' is an e-reader?

scoobydoo99 : oh... oh yeah...

i Will laugh my ass off if the "Little" referred to re-booting all its i-products with a "lightning" port and a reduced the form factor iMac and nothing else.... :D

iMac with a 30"-40" display would be awesome. Especially if it had infrared. No more TV needed. And think of the screen real estate.

Hopefully they will release iTunes 11 at the same event. They announced at the Sept iPhone/iPod event that it was coming sometime in October so hopefully it will be available to download on the 23rd.

I also hope that they are able to do something more radical with iTunes. The one thing that would really help me is the ability to split up your library across multiple hard drives rather than having to have your entire library in one folder. I've just had to upgrade from a 1TB drive to a 2TB drive to keep up with my iTunes library. Those HD films and tv shows don't half eat up the disk space.

Yes we do know for sure because Apple have already quietly leaked some of the details to their favoured journalists ahead of the event.

That's not the way the rumoured Apple TV is going to work.

They will produce Cinema Display's in various sizes with an AppleTV box built in. You will then control it and select content via an iPad/iPod/iPhone. The content will then be streamed either from your iOS device, Mac hard drive or iCloud locker. You will probably then have a black box which you plug your TV aerial, cable box, etc. That black box will connect to your router so that the signal can be transmitted throughout the house so that you can control your TV via your iOS device.

Now the interesting part. You put a Cinema Display in your living room, in your bedroom, kitchen, etc and all you need to control each one is your iOS device. The brains sit within the iOS device and the Cinema Display is in effect a very nice monitor. That allows you to make them very thin, very light and much cheaper than a conventional TV.

And I'm sure there'll be rumour articles of this too before the event?

iPad Mini Name

I think the smaller iPad will be called the iBook and will be marketed toward the education crowd and (indirectly) gamers.

It won't be "iPad Mini", I'm pretty sure of that, but I don't think they'll use a name without iPad in it.

iPad One
iPad Go
iPad Air
iPad Mono
iPad Lite

Something simple like that.

Now that is something that I would buy. Just as long as it has a few HDMI ports. Then it would be a very good TV.

I don't see them putting it out at $329, i'm thinking more like $299. It's only $100 more and you get a better ecosystem.

The Kindle is horrible anyway. My boss has the new one and the UX isn't that great. Typing on the keyboard, I tend to hit other letters when my finger isn't really touching it. Never had a problem with the iPhone or iPad hitting other letters.

ever heard of mac mini?
Yes, I've heard of Mac Mini. It's a lunchbox with a computer in it. Its size relative to regular desktop computers that could hold 20 Mac Minis, is what makes it "mini". But this is a 7.85" iPad. If that's "Mini" next to a 9.7" one, then the iMac 21.5" is an iMac Mini, or possibly iMac Nano, the MBP 13" is MacBook Pro Mini, and let's not forget the MacBook Air Mini 11".
