Re: No SC or GA (savannah)

Just for laughs I called the Charleston, SC store and they said they had no plans to carry apple products. Then I called the Savannah, GA store (much more helpful) and he said that some Best Buys are starting to carry apple but they did not have any plans at that store...

Guess I'll just have to move!!!
Just goes to show you, everything is relative. I live in Montana. Need I say more? What's a CompUSA ( ya, I know )? I'm lucky I only have to drive an hour+ to get to a Radio Shack. Apple store? I think there's one in Seattle, 9 hours away by car.

Thank god for UPS and Fedx, which actually serve us very well.

Went to BB in Pleasant Hill (didn't get the camera though🙁 ), and they have everything but the 14" iBook and the 17" PowerBook.

This is good for Best Buy. I know that the one here gets a lot of people asking for Macs, so once they start to arrive, it should spark a new group of customers. Currrently, the only places in town to buy Macs is CompUSA ( with their truly terrible customer service) and an Apple licensed store (which charges more than Apple does when you order online and pay for shipping)

I just hope they get them in stock sooner rather than later...

Actually, I think apple has a thing against the state of South Carolina. In the Charelston, SC area there are no CompUSA's, no apple stores, and one Best Buy that's a half hour car drive and the last time I was there they said they had no info on carrying apple products. I would be pleasantly shocked if they started carrying them! The only store in the entire state that carries apple products is a compUSA in Greenville, which is very, very far from the coast! If I had only stayed on Long Island, I would be surrounded by apple stores and apple resellers!!!

I called the Best Buy on Harbison Blvd here in Columbia and they said that they would be carrying apple products "very soon." When pressed he said it would probably be September at the latest maybe October. (I didn't call the Two Notch Rd. Best Buy.)

I agree that Apple is missing out on SC. I just went to Atlanta (a 3 hour drive) this weekend to get my iBook SE checked out by a Mac Genius. Sigh. I wish we'd get an Apple store though Best Buy is good enough.

BTW, what's a yankee doin' down here?! 😀 Just Kidding!

HECK YEAH!!!!! Columbia is a hop, skip and jump away from Charleston...and my old stomping grounds. I went to school at University of South Carolina a few years back. My fiance and I were planning on going to see some friends in September, and I'll definately be going to Best Buy!!!! Only an hour and a half away!

There's an Apple retailer here in Savannah just two hours away. AIS is small, but it's all Apple (and it's in the same shopping center as Best Buy!).

So, see, your first task is to sell that 75% on Macs. Heavy training should help. Dragging unrepentant PC bigots out back and beating them senseless might also be required.

Was at the Schaumburg, IL Best Buy last night, and I can confirm Apple hardware was stocked and on display. No signage, however, so they were probably just getting set up. Hardware on display included a 17" iMac, an iBook (not sure of model), 15" PowerBook, and a PMG4.
