I think this indexing process is causing the temp to increase, what do you all think?d

You can stop your MB from indexing your flash drive by going ->Preference -> Spotlight -> Pirvacy. Plug your drive in and add it to the list.

Now try again to see if it makes any difference.

Yea, seems to be the MD Worker, right back down to 30c idle now with MDworker at 0 process

I would suggest you get Applecare on anything seeing those temps. Sounds like thermal paste is a bit lacking.

Maybe you are doing intensive applications? Mine hovers from 30-65*C (68 being the highest I've seen). Normally sending it to sleep for 15 minutes cools it down to 25*C. I still haven't seen 80*C, that dam near boiling 0.o

Currently 41*C.

I read somewhere in MacRumors or the Apple support website that some of the MacBooks were inadvertently shipped with a piece of plastic or tape over one of the vents. You might see if you can check that out.

I ran mine at 100% CPU for 1-2 hours, fans never even went to the level where u could hear them. After 1-2 hours the temperature was at 63 degrees celcius.

woah that is really hot and not normal. my hovers around 58-63 so yeah it keeps its cool. :D

jeeze there is something wrong with the peoples that are even 60+! my White book is at 46 currently, witch is Higher then normal. Usally while running safari photoshop itunes and msn mesenger i don't go over 60!

Threads like these remind me of Automotive forums when someone buys their first car with an oil pressure and temp gauge.

Are any of you getting high temperature events in your system log? If you aren't there is nothing to get overly concerned about.

Hmm

I have a 2.0 Alu MB and the idle temperature is fine (about 40°C).
While I'm surfing it gets to a temperature between 40°C and 60°C depending on the site I'm viewing.

BUT when I do some heavy stuff it (sometimes) reaches 95°C and the fans speed up slow, and after a short while they're running at about 4K and the temperature is lowered to about 80°C

I was thinking this is quite high for a CPU, anyone else has these high temperatures?

Hi all

I have followed the forum for a long time but never needed to post!!

Now I do!!

My new UniBody Macbkook 2.4Ghz is running at 80c on the CPU! It seems a bit hot to me, what do you all think? I have never seen a CPU run at this speed, I read an article that gave the exact model of this CPU but can't remember what it was, exhaust fan is running at 4300rpm at the moment.

What do you all think?

mine is exactly the same.. what are you doing tho? when mine was that hot i was ripping a dvd, listening to itunes and surfing the web.. it should be fine if your doing alot of work but if thats your idle temp then you got problems!

Lol, running those is nothing. Come back when you been using 100% CPU for 2 hours without any drop in CPU. I had a whitebook before, same usage like now made the fans go at max speed and the temp was still at 70 celcius.

Now fans go at 2-2500 RPM and temps at 63, improvement ;)

Real quick: How do I go about checking my CPU temp in my new MacBook? (flame suit on ;))

The highest I have ever seen mine is 60*C. Right now it's on my duvet and i'm running firefox, ical, and word at 51*C.
