I have on a Unibody MacBook Late 2008 before I switched to the MBA. It didn't make much of a difference.

I have yet to understand why people worry about little things like cpu temp and fan speeds. (Yes, little things).
Working many years in IT I can tell you two computers of the exact same brand and model will most likely run at different temperatures. Its no biggie. What seems hot to people is not hot to a computer.
Your computer wont melt, there will be no "wear" on the processor. If your computer gets too hot the computer will shut down. (Don't believe me? Try removing the fan and tripping whatever little device detects the fan in your model of computer).
