Now we know why Steve didn't want to give the keynote. He didn't want all the disappointed iMac & Mini fans to direct their collective anger at him. He threw Phil under the bus on this one. :D

THAT is an understatement if I ever I have heard one! This sucked and we now know why Mr. Jobs did not wish to give this one! What a way to go out at Macworld, eh? What a suckfest. That was the suckiest bunch of suck that ever sucked. Period!

D

What the heck happened with all those rumors "Mac mini with support for dual displays, & iPhone nano? This really was crapworld 09"

That's the trouble with rumours. Most of them are wrong!

i get the impression that they're saving the big hardware announcements to do on their own time at their own press events -

Honestly all I wanted to see was Snow Leopard, and I remember people saying a while ago that it would be at Mac World, pretty disappointed in the no-show. The new 17 macbook is nice ... 7 hour battery life is beastly. I hope they adopt this fixed battery for all the pro laptops. I'd like to see what the anti-glare screen actually looks like.

Overall this Macworld wasn't that stellar, which is sad, being the last one.

Gonna go watch the keynote now.

Just registered after a year of lurking, to say, what a total waste of reading time to see the summary of what must have been the dullest Mac expo ever.

Where was the Mini with 9400M? The Alu body? Something.

It's the only Apple I will buy for my first Mac, not gonna spend all that dosh trying out other hardware. Mini was Apple's entry level and its looking very dated now...

Major missed opportunity. I feel sorry for the poor chump Steve Jobs dumped that one on.... :(

I suspect Apple is keeping alot of the Snow Leopard features secret...

we know how the guys are at Redmond. lol

what thats it?

I guess rumors was really off this time around
we dont even have june to look forward to

so much for Apple when Jobs is not at the helm

Let's be honest, there wasn't much to introduce and Schiller still did a REALLY good job. His presenting skills were almost as good as Stevie J's rdf. I would imagine that when Jobs decides it's time to step down the board is going to have Phil be the next CEO.

I agree. It's not Phil's fault. He is just turning into a scapegoat here. That is just my opinion though. I was still disappointed as a whole. :(

lets see

1. no iphone nano, verizon iphone or anything like that
2. no new mini
3. no new imac

what we did get was

1. A reason for me to keep my santa rosa based 17" mbp another year
2. A reason not to upgrade to ilife 09
3. A reason to build my own mac pro

is it just me or...

is the video quality horrible?!?!?!

it's like thumbnail size and when i full screen it it's so pixely i cant barely make anything out

:mad::apple::mad:

this is strange, but when i open the link, the stream that starts is the october 2008 keynote... :|

Clever ol' Apple

Okay, let me get this right - Apple announce they'll no longer be attending the Macworld event, then deliver a spectacularly bad keynote, designed to leave a bad taste in the mouth. It's worked, everyone is moaning so Apple have done the right thing and pulled out of future events.

Anyhow, where's my Mac Mini?

Others are having the same issue, I'd check back in a while to see if Apple has fixed this issue...

Just because it wasn't updated today doesn't mean it won't be updated at all. Apple has had a history of releasing hardware updates just after major events, so see what happens in the next few weeks. If I recall correctly the last time Apple updated the mini is was a rather silent update as well, although this update would hopefully be more significant.

No real reason for me to watch either. Knew it was going to be a letdown when they spend the first hour covering iLife and iWork... yawn...

At least they added a anti-glare option for the 17" and did it right by also removing the reflective black bezel too! Hopefully that is a sign that they will then add it to the 15", the MacBook and the iMac! I won't and can't buy a glossy screen - period.

I'm still hoping they will phase in iMac and Mac mini upgrades over the next couple of weeks (like they did last year). I have an Apple Developer Hardware Discount voucher I need to use before the end of the month and currently they don't make anything I'm interested in purchasing - even with the discount!

I'll take it off your hands, I need a new iPod :D

I bet the 17 inch Macbook Pro was purposely held up in its release just so Apple would have SOMETHING to show at this Macworld.

Big-time let down.

I've been following the Mac community since before the 2.5GHz G5 came out. Have been an avid Mac fan since. Honestly, I know my way around the hardware & software of a Mac.

Not once have I got one of these freaking streams to display!!

You're not alone. Typically, right after the Macworld keynote, everyone rushes in to watch the stream and as a result the feed stutters pretty badly unless you're lucky. Usually someone posts a direct download link to the movie file or it shows up as a free download in iTunes. If I'm interested in watching the keynote, I just start that downloading (which is excruciatingly slow) and go find something else to do for an hour or so.
