Macworld San Francisco 2006 Coverage

Sounds to me like the new Intel laptops would have been faster than the iMac G5... so they HAD to update the iMac early :)

Plus, the iMac's a top-seller, so improving it sooner than usual isn't a bad idea anyway.

If laptops don't come to today, hang in there! Soon. The G4 needs a replacement and Apple hasn't neglected that.
 
Who said this'll be over at 10:30 PST? Steve could easily extend it another 30 minutes. Have Faith my flock.

they put a laptop processor in the iMac and it beats the G5 by 2-3x, and if they don't put it in an ACTUAL LAPTOP right now I'm going to kill somebody.
 
If the new iMac is 2-3X faster won't it be faster than the PowerMacs and cheaper AND with a monitor?

I realize it lacks ram slots and upgradeability and blah blah blah but i mean damn it seems as if the PowerMac has gotten corned.
 
Apple saves Intel chips from their boring lives.

What an interesting theme for an ad campaign.

Will it catch on with the public, particularly the non-Mac-using public?
