Hmmm.... just plausible enough to mess with our heads. Perfect.

I sure hope they don't pull some "25th Anniversary" histrionics, like a Super Bowl halftime ad, or an overpriced but technically underwhelming 25th Anny Special Edition iMac.

It's not at all plausible. Jobs hates nostalgia. The 25th Anniversary Mac was one of the first projects to be axed when Jobs returned in 1997. They didn't do anything in 2004 for the 20th anniversary either.

Well, Macrumors reported that "something big" was going to happen, but when the day came they reported another rumor.

Is Apple waiting to celebrate its 25th ?

A thought just occurred to me. Maybe it has already been mentioned because I am usually "slow" for these things:

Is Apple waiting to celebrate its 25th birthday with a bang by announcing a series of (insanely) great products?

Just an idea... that wish becomes true since I also had been waiting for a new iMac to "defect" from Windows to Mac :).

You must still be looking at your doctored snapshot. The "new" tags aren't there for anything but the 17" Pro.

Ohh look what I saw in the us store... was there only for 2 seconds

Look guys [gals] - I pulled that pic from the Australian apple store. I have better things to do than doctoring pictures for pleasure. I honestly thought they had been released and I'd missed the announcement. Checked my feeds - no announcements. Grabbed the screenshot and posted it. Won't waste my time next time.

If your first instinct is to validate Apple's own website against newsfeeds, then perhaps this is a worse offense than doctoring the picture.

Did you click on the Mini link and get the specs? Did you try to put it in your cart? I would have tried to hit buy as soon as I could.

Wake up to yourself

Perhaps I wasn't verbose enough for you detective. I should have said that the links took me through to the current product not any new ones and the prices offered were current product prices - not those posted on the front page.

Read it in to that however you please. I am sure you'll get off on it somehow.

Nice Thinking

Apple has a great opportunity to introduce the new iMac, Mac mini and Apple TV next month in conjunction with the analog television broadcast shutdown on February 17th. The analog shutdown is going to be big news, and Apple can profit from it. They could produce an event that says Apple is ready for the next stage of the digital entertainment revolution, and here is our newest hardware. It would be the perfect date to introduce the long-rumored Apple HDTV set too.

I like your thinking here.

What will be will be

I find it hard to believe the Apple would hurt their sales by not releasing a product that was ready. They will release the new mini when it is ready. I am looking forward to the product as I need a new DVD player in my living room and the AppleTV won't cut it.

Andy, are you new to Apple? It's been long-established (but never stated) corporate policy to use the early adopters of any model and specifically, the releases of the OS itself, as beta-testers.

So far this hasn't hurt sales, but we live in a new world now.

:apple:

iphone nano was what i expected there, but nothing happened....
my next speculation is 15" Mac Air, how about this one?

They'll ship the mac minis and iMacs at the end of this month, when the new iLife ships. Why would they bother announcing them before they were immediately available, and it seems iLife goes gold master in a few weeks.

Didn't happen.
