Just noticed that the rummor are on yahoo's main start up page for the moment. This seems to be gaining momentem.

Thanks for the round-up of rumors! I've been following things closely, especially since Apple decided to sue ThinkSecret. The wait will be over soon. I have my own guesses as to what will and won't turn out to be true, but I'll leave such speculations to the experts. 😀

This does not bode well: I'm already getting "server is busy" errors for Macrumors, and the keynote doesn't even start until 20+ hours from now!

Worse, if Apple doesn't allow live news feeds from the expo and they don't post the video on apple.com until 9pm tomorrow, I think a lot of us will simply go crazy. Certainly we'll hear about the highlights right after the keynote here, right? please, Macrumors?!

goddamnit

wow, people are going crazy... macrumors.com is being flooded. I might as well join in....
I'm hoping thinksecret are wrong about the PB upgrade, but i doubt it. I really wanted a little G5 PB.. oh well....
Do thinksecret have a reputation of getting stuff wrong often ?

Rob

PS Perhaps apple is feeding them false info ...
*tin foil hat on head*

I could be wrong, but I think the opposite is true.

They have a reputation for getting things right. Too right...

I think you people are certifiable to have expected a Powerbook G5.

It CLEARLY wasn't in the cards. I envision a big refresh to the PowerMac and PowerBook lines early this summer (or possibly to coincide with the Tiger release).

Until then, be happy with a faster hard drive, bluetooth 2, an almost 10% speed jump, and more video memory. These are great machines! And by the way, do you really want to wait for who knows how long, just to get the FIRST GENERATION PowerBook G5. Who wants to guess there will be heat/fan issues in the first generation?

apple has hid there best secret for the expo. It will be a pb g5

a gut feeling ? 😉

Its not totally impossible to believe that apple asked thinksecret to put up a false rumor. A simple option, that or a court case....

Are you serious? Why would Apple ask TS to spread a false rumour? If they had managed to keep the PB G5 secret until today, I'm sure they would be able to keep it that way for another 20 hours or so. Anyway, people please wake up, the current G5 is not suitable for portables.

yeah i know .. it is totally impossible ... but we can all dream 🙂

I enjoy the speculation and (like any sports-fan) support the Apple team ...

but the thing I'm most interested in is software announcements. I'm not in the market for a Mac (though iHome could be interesting).

Some simple possibilities I'd like to see (most likely as part of 10.4)....
1) seamlessly connect my 2 macs in 2 locations (use iChat to locate?).
Possibilities then include
- print to my parents printer from my home
- synchronise email and home directories between 2 macs
(just the directories, copy actual files on demand?)
- take over my home computer from elsewhere.

(there were rumours of .Mac allowing you to connect to your computer via iChat by using "username.computername.mac.com" recently weren't there? Was that only for home web servers?)

2) get iChat interfacing with the regular phone network

3) really easy web page writing program and easy way to update and check site.

Of course, hardware announcements and other surprises also let me know my platform of choice is alive and well and evolving... always positive.

Interesting Pics... seem real!!

Pics from someone who works at apple... won't say source, but they don't look faked!! Supposedly it's called iHome and will be able to connect to a tv and record tv broadcasts?? Or this is the new headless iMac??

You decide...
🙄

eh, may i ask where you have been the past week?

these pics have basically been confirmed to be fake today on think secret and nothing leads anyone to believe they are real.

FAKE. AS. HELL.

1) Why would Apple use Lucida Grande as the font for this one box? They've always stuck with Myriad.

2) There are edges on the box lid where it looks like paper has been laid ontop of what we can assume to be an iBook box.

3) Centre? This ain't bloody Britain! It's Center

4) The device itself looks fake. The corners even look dented, like it's made of cardboard. Not to mention there's no depth to the "ports" in the back.

And so on, and so forth... 🙄

wow...

Wow... sorry!! Obviously I hadn't seen that it was fake or I wouldn't have posted it. I apologize!

I just want a G5 Powerbook to come out so the prices on the G4s will drop to a semi-affordable level. Then I'll buy a nice 15" G4 PB and let other people with fat wallets be the guinea pigs.

Maybe the anticipated minor changes will include price drops to the existing models? If so, I may just be getting out the credit card. 🙄

Over the past few MW Eve, someone has always posted on MR late spilling the beans. Wonder if that will happen this year?

* This happened with 17" PB, of course, no one believed them - "OH its FAR too big" etc etc.

* The other occasion, I forget.

Probably not as much as a PBG5, but I guess we'll take what we can get.

Now, if it was a headless G5 for under $600, I think my head would explode. Especially if it came with Tiger. 😱

IF there is a word-processing/spreadsheet/keynote bundle, it won't be called iWork. iWork is the name of an application by a third-party developer (and it's on version 2.2, already). Pages, however, fits okay for all those together.

They changed the name of the third-party software to iBiz last week.
