No one feels it necessary to ram their religion or colour down everyone's throats, but of course such topics arise in relevant threads.
As does Teh Ghey™. I don't remember how Teh Ghey™ came up in this thread, but do you really feel it's out of place to try and make a pun of how I failed to catch Teh Ghey™ when the ongoing joke is how to avoid cathing it.

I could've understood you if a lot of gay members took over a thread about the Intel Clovertown processor and turned it into a gay parade, but I can't see why it should bother you in this thread and the way it has developed.

Edit: There's also a difference between making ones religion or sexuality known and ramming it down someone's throat (no pun intended). A lot of people has mentioned their religion in the 20 random things you may not know... thread, but I don't see that as them ramming it down my throat. Religious throat ramming can sometimes be observed in the political forum, though.

I wasn't referring only to this thread. I just came to mention it now. In numerous threads I've noticed it and now I'm thinking Enough already. Okay I get it, you're gay. Can we move on? kind of thing. I'm not saying I can point to each post and say, "Right, that shouldn't have been posted because xyz". And, yes, Chundles joke was very amusing. Ramming it down my throat means constant mentions with no relevance to the topic in hand. The topic in hand doesn't have to be anything to do with computers. I know nothing about people on this site except what's in the avatars...and who's gay.

You're making far too big a deal of this. I think you should follow your own advice... "Okay I get it, you're gay. Can we move on?". Just move on. If you read this forum a lot, like I do, I'm sure you'll agree that more than half of the posts in here have little or no interest to you. You skip most of them, but for some reason you stop and think "Enough already" if someone mentions that they're gay? It sounds like an unhealthy and unnecessary hang-up to me.

Well, I hope it isn't an unhealthy obessions. But, as I said, it's not something that just occurred to me. Again and again I've read it in posts and eventually I've aired my feelings. Someone's saying they're fed up with people signing their posts. Others get fed up with people overly eulogizing Macs or MR. Still others with people saying the slightest thing negative about Apple. It takes all sorts, I guess.

Actually, I think being disturbed by the human body, be it male or female, is really quite weird. And it's not terribly uncommon for such views to be accompanied by latent homosexual tendencies should such feelings be towards the same sex.

Including - if you have/had one - your naked 90 year old grandmother? "Oh hi Gran. How's your day been?".

Which would make almost all men gay. Who fed you this little nugget?

Yes, including my grandmother. Bless her soul.

Human sexuality is a spectrum and even straight people have been known to have the occasional homosexual thought. Such insecurities are often quite revealing, despite whether or not people choose to aknowledge it.

Oh, and

We all get fed up about other's behaviour at times, so I suppose it's fair enough. In my eyes this is a bit like getting fed up because the sky is blue, but I'm just one of the other sorts that it takes.

Many straight men I meet are quite relaxed about gays, many are a bit awkward at first because they don't know which social script to use but come around soon enough and then there are of course those who never really get comfortable. In my experience the last group far from makes up "almost all men".

I think aquajet refers to the study that showed homophobes were more than twice as likely to get turned on by gay porn than non-homophobic straight men.

You could walk in on a naked 90 year old and not bat an eyelid? You're a stronger person than me :D

Apologies. The roll eyes thing was a bastardy thing to do.

The point I was making is that there are some latent homosexuals who don't like looking at other naked men (or saying they don't). But to word this along the lines of 'not being able to look at other naked men is a probable sign of latent homosexuality' is misleading, to say the least.

No worries.

"Probable" is different from "not terribly uncommon". Regardless, I think it's likely that some sort of insecurity is involved.

But 'probable' is pretty close to 'likely'. And the only 'likely' insecurity would be latent homosexuality, I presume. If so, my original assertion is right, that your previous comment would refer to most men.

What, like inside out?

No latent homosexuality here, but I appreciate a hot body as much as the next beautiful thing. It's certainly something to be inspired toward.
Doesn't referring to a body as 'hot' imply a sexual attraction towards it?

I believe it's possible to admire something without wanting it.

MACDRIVE, you're crazy! :D
You missed the point. Unless the Australian meaning is different to the rest of the world, saying "She/He's hot" means "Wow! I'd like to get naked with them".

Maybe. Saying she's hot means she's hot. Saying I want to get naked with them means I want to get naked with them. There are many hot girls out there who I wouldn't want to get naked with, but I recognise their hotness and their beauty all the same.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm talking semantics. I'd love to have a body like Daniel Craig and I would say so. I just wouldn't describe him as 'hot' in a gay bar.
