Magellan Premium in UK

Hi Jelsoft Sux,

The reason why we designed the Bluetooth that way is because it allows non iPhone users to use the Bluetooth hands free calling. For example, not all iPod Touch users have iPhones. As a result, they are able to pair their phones with the Premium Car Kit while using their iPod touches to navigate. In addition, it allows users to multi-task while on a call. E.g. texting, surfing the web, etc.

I currently do not have information regarding the AUX issue. As stated before, users who are using the aux output with the Premium Car Kit can turn down the volume manually to accommodate their preference. I will let you know once I receive some more updates regarding the situation.

Thank you,
Maggie

Just wondered whether the kit is yet available in UK? Did see there was a problem with our taxes or something. However, I'd be happy to chance that (it would be my responsibility!) because with the new iPhone coming soon your kit is a much better bet than the TomTom one.
Thanks

I have a Ford which has sync. I plan on getting the Magellan car kit , however I have a few questions.

Can the bluetooth on the car kit be turned off and not be paired to the iphone
If I pair the iphone to the car sync I can receive/send calls and hear the person through the car speakers.
When using the Megellan app the voice directions should (I think) come out the iphone speakers.
Will this setup work, or is there a better way of setting it up.

Thanks in advance
DK

Anyone in Vancouver, BC wanting to purchase a practically unused Magellan Premium Car Kit for iPhone - selling CAD100.00.

I used the car kit to test functionality, but never got to switch from my hard-wired Garmin Nuvi. And now that I recently purchased a car with a built-in navigation I definitely won't be needing this any longer.

PM me if interested. Everything that was ever included in the box is all intact.

Two questions:

Any update to the AUX issue?

Can the top restraining arm be removed? It would be sweet to be able to put an iPad on the mount (I know it would be at all secure).

Any update to the AUX issue?

You won't get a response. Seems they are ignoring the issue and not making good on the fix that was said to be in the works.

Lesson: Magellan will tell you what you want to hear, but cannot be trusted. Many instances of that in recent months.

Well, I picked one up and the AUX issue is a non-issue for me. It doesn't bug me and I'd rather have that than having to plug and unplug the AUX cable all the time.

I did try it out with my iPad, and it worked great (in terms of connectivity). A different mount solution would have to be worked out, however.

But with my wifi only iPad (which has no GPS chip in it) the cradle worked great. Here's a short video if anyone cares.
