It just stops after using it for a while.
If I disconnect it then reconnect it the scrolling function returns. I didn't have this on Big Sur at all.
Anyone seeing this?
Thanks.

I just posted similar problems in another thread.

Curious what systems you are on, is this a M1 issue?

My 16" I9 was updated to Monterey within an hour of my 13" M1 and I have had no mouse problems yet just the M1.

I’m seeing the same behavior since updating to Monterey on my M1 MBA with both my Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2. Restarting the peripherals fixes the problem temporarily, but I’m having to do so 5-10x a day.

I find it super frustrating that something as simple as external mouse compatibility is broken in a public release… Come on Apple.

As I wrote in another thread, on my 2019 27" iMac its fixed after doing a SMC reset. I also had the problem that after waking up from sleep mode, scrolling didn't work with my Magic Mouse 2.

The problem with M1 Macs is that resetting SMC is not possible, see also:

(on an Intel iMac: shut down, remove power cord, wait a few minutes, put it back and press on & reboot .. you'll have to reconnect the mouse, so slide the power button off/on ... for Intel MBs see the link)

I still have had no problems with my 2019 16" MBP, other than sometimes in Safari the mouse pointer goes a bit wonky. Seems to only happen playing chess at chess.com. But with my M1 MBP it is an every morning thing, power cycle the mouse before it will work.

This has been happening to me all day today. Did my Monterey Update last evening... Very annoying and reported.
i posted it the other thread, but resetting the SMC does not resolve this. so, apple needs to fix it (hopefully next point update). for now, when it happens (at least here, it's pretty random), you can just turn your mouse off then back on...

I got the mbp 14” with Magic keyboard and mouse 3.
When I do reboot / restart it takes 10-20 sec at the login screen for them to start working is it the same for you?

I’m currently on macOS 12.1 beta

I haven't had this problem with my Magic Mouse, but I did have this problem with my Logitech MX Anywhere Mouse for Mac, when it is connected via USB!

The only resolution I found was to restart the OS! Very annoying!

macOS 12.0.1 on a 14-inch MacBook Pro...

My guess is that this is a bug that for some reason affect different devices.
One reason can bee that my Magic Mouse has been connected to an other device before.

Next time this happens I’ll try to restart the Bluetooth module and see if it solves the issue.

Just downloaded the Monterey. I have the same problem with M2 it keeps loosing the scrolling and swipe features.

And the CAPSLOCK doesn’t flash with the yellow light when it turns ON and OFF. Does anyone have that too?

I did have that until I did install macOS 12.1 Beta 2.

I have the exact same problem. Only thing I can do, is switch bluetooth on and off and it comes back. VERY annoying. Also, the emojis on the Touch Bar work for about a second, then stop. I have to use the function key to use them. That is annoying as well :p MacBook Pro M1 2020
