Have ordered some gaming glides to see if that improves the movement
Tried 'em, hated 'em. If placed over the existing glides there's still too much resistance. If placed horizontally the mouse rocks too much. Tried whittling down the original glides so there's less surface contact but that didn't help either, so I've chucked in in the bin.

Re Apple mice/keyboards generally... the Mighty Mouse was lovely for about a month, but the design was tragically flawed in its uncleanability. Obviously there was the joke hockey puck design too. But I've never had an issue with Apple's keyboards. Have just replaced a dead wired current model keyboard with the Bluetooth version and both are lovely (although I'd prefer a Bluetooth extended keyboard). The previous white keys / clear casing keyboard was fine, if a bit prone to getting filthy. The only one I remember that completely sucked was the AppleDesign Keyboard, which was far too light.

If you think the Magic Mouse is bad, try an older Mighty Mouse. Mighty poor.

I use the Touchpad and keep a Logitech 2 button mouse for gaming. The Magic mouse was ok but its just inferior to the Touchpad for gestures etc in OS X.

What on earth is that monstrosity? How do you make it do something….. anything?

Mighty Mouse. Mighty poor.

Agreed; the tiny scroll button is fiddly and ticklish to use. Maybe it's designed for geeks with dainty hands.

It seems I'm the only one that likes his magic mouse?? I have no trouble moving it, guess I'm lucky.

I also love the keyboard, though I've been using laptops for years now and got used to not using a keypad / having a "smaller" keyboard.

Yeah…… A bunch of whinging wimps around here, I reckon. Ya'll need to get out and get some exercise to build the strength to move the Magic Mouse effortlessly.

I can (could) move the mouse, but the force needed to move it doesn't (didn't) lend itself to fine control. Perhaps I should have glued it to the desk and kept it as a poor man's trackpad.

Was considering giving the Apple trackpad a spin but half an hour ago my Magsafe died, so that's my monthly computing budget blown!

Apple's mice are rarely any good. This is to be expected. None of them are as bad as the hockey puck mouse however.

It looks nice but. It sucks.

1 - To much contact surface area sitting on those two bar things under it...it doesn't slide easily.

2 - The click is to loud.

3 - Heavy.

That's all. :D

Agreed. Want to love it (Tried for 4 years) - but hate it. Constant Lost Connection. Constant. Won't track. What is best recommend for alternative? Thanks for time, suggestions. :)

Wow! Four year old thread.

I actually ended up using a cheap, wired Logitech M100 mouse that I originally bought for use on my MacBook Pro, but now use on my iMac. No lost connections. Tracks. Won't break the bank. Note that it's still working fine after 5 years.

Likewise...... have long used a Logitech M100. Might lack all the high tech features, but does the basic stuff just fine, reliably so for many years. Bought my first a dozen or so years ago.... replaced it with the second about 3 years ago.

When I ordered my new MBP I decided to upgrade to Space Grey keyboard and MM, I mean I don't give much attention to aesthetics however I thought they looked pretty cool.

Oh and I actually do like the MM, one day I will get the trackpad and compare.

I agree that the Magic Mouse sucks. Despite already owning a Logicool MX Master and Logi MX Master 2S, I'm so tempted to go down to the Apple Store to grab space gray one because it looks so beautiful.

I guess that makes me a "sucks-ker" :D

I agree. I have the first mouse and hate it. My pain problem is the design. It was meant to look pretty instead of feeling good when your hand rests on it.

I agree, I switched to the Microsoft Ergonomic desktop and never looked back. The magic mouse would always get this crud on the rubber contracts that I had to constantly wipe off. Not any more.

The quality control on the Space Gray Magic Mouse 2 devices is absolutely terrible. I've been through 4 different devices and still haven't found one that's built to Apple's oft-touted precision manufacturing standards.

The first two had the glass surface loose and wobbly, the third one had a chip on the side and the fourth one has its aluminium shell slightly warped and not completely flush with the glass surface.

On the bright side it's fulfilling its role as a portable mouse reasonably well, being much slimmer than both my MX Masters.

Had Magic Mouse earlier and shifted to the Trackpad. Will never go back.
Planning on buying that new Space Gray Trackpad too, to match the Space Gray Keyboard I bought.
Love it, and the charging that is not need to be done very often.

I’m thinking of doing the same, how do you like the mouse? I’m surprised to see a lot of negativity about it

how do you like the mouse?

If you are going to use it for the gestures then it's great, but if you have big hands it's not. It's too small and I do notice after using it a while my hand gets sore. But I power through it simply because I find it so useful.

It is cool to hate on MagicMouse right now, so let's go even more below zero then...

Everything that has been said has already been pretty much said in this thread. Three button mouse rules for desktops.

And, it's no just about the mouse, Apple doesn't know how to make a keyboard anymore, too.

Mechanical keyboard such as Matias Tactile Pro wipes the floor with the chiclet style keyboard Apple is selling these days. it hurts to write on that.

I am sorry. I love the Apple, I really do. But, these are just not for me.

My (personal) opinion, I won't use a mechanical keyboard, don't like them and I write for hours on end. Love the magic keyboard (with num pad) and the Microsoft Surface keyboard. In fact, out of the two, I would put the surface keyboard out in front.
