Wow, that's a blanket statement. I cut a half hour show every week for a major international news network on my 17" MBP without a mouse, and it's great for me...but to each their own.

Agreed. Since i use my mbp mostly (faster then my imac) when using keyboard shortcuts its easier to use the trackpad then to reach for my magic mouse.
The only nice thing about my Magic mouse is that I have custom gestures. (Like I have too finger swipes for a dissolve etc) but most of the time I use command t or option command t for audio....
I also use a lot my contour shuttle. best $100 i've spent on gear.
 
What brand is that trackball in the photo?

Edit: never mind, I found out that it's a Kingston. Though, I wonder where you got that wrist rest?

Yeah it is the Kensingon expert mouse. None of the pictures show it with the wrist rest but it does come with one. Side note, you can not buy the wrist rest separate. I brought it to a job once and the tabs broke off so I had to duct tape the pad back to hold it together. They refused to sell me a replacement pad :(
