I was getting fed up with how slow the tracking is in the system preferences>mouse. I downloaded this and it worked to speed up the Mighty Mouse. I will also be buying the Magic Mouse sometime this week and give the wife my Mighty Mouse.

Does anybody know why OSX has such a slow tracking speed for the mouse?

I really don't get why MacRumors decided to put "MagicPrefs" up instead of BetterTouchTool. Like, honestly. BetterTouchTool offers SO much more and is much more powerful. Also, TRACKPAD SUPPORT. <3 My workflow has gotten so much speedier with my trackpad/BTT.

Here's just a quick look at BTT:

agreed, BTT looks and feels way better.

Ever since the release of Apple's multi-touch Magic Mouse just a few months ago, one of the primary complaints from users has been a lack of support for Exposé and other functionalities given the limited options available in System Preferences for configuring the mouse.

MagicDriver

There's yet another solution from the authors of SteerMouse, it's called MagicDriver:

I don't know how it compares to the other tools, but it's always good to have some competition. MagicDriver allows you to adjust the sensitivity and tracking speed as well, for those of us who find the mouse incredibly slow even with MouseZoom set to its fastest setting.

I just had the mouse bought for a friend of mine and I decided to take it for a test drive. I installed btt and its amazing. It adds so much usability to the mouse that its staggering. If apple dosent add this to prefs settings I dont know what to say.

btt could add somethings like built in applescript support so I dont have to use spark as well but Im sure that will all be looked at.

Wow, definitely something to keep an eye on, if SteerMouse is any indication, this one will probably be pretty damn good.

For desktop users, this may be better.

However, for all of us who are using MBP's and MB's that supports multi-touch trackpad, BetterTouchTool is a much better tool simply because it also lets us customize the trackpad.

Coming from using MultiClutch for my MBP, and now using magic mouse on my desk at home... It's just like...

MultiClutch + MagicPrefs = BetterTouchTool.

So for those of you who own the multi-touch laptops, just get the BTT. Much better.

Great? Um...No

I installed this app and it made my Magic Mouse sluggish. I would click on something and then wait. Turned off the app and mouse went back to normal. When it was installed didn't really see the need for it anyway as the MM is just fine on it's own.

Dude, try BetterTouchTool. MacRumors picked a crappy app to post about.

BTT just had another update, you can import/export and a whole lot of other things!!! (live gestures woo!) this program keeps getting better and better!

And further has another update where you can invert the scrolling (so it works like the iPhone)!

Plus a trippy trackpad mode! You gotta try it to see!

ravenvii, can you point me in the direction of this trackpad mode?? I dont see it anywhere.

This is sweet to play around with but not to practical. At least not for me. But very cool nonetheless!!

Yeah, as the developer said, it's experimental. I'm certain he will improve it with future updates.

Basically the idea is that the Magic Mouse rests pretty well in your hand in the "remote-holding" position. When holding it like this, use your thumb to move the mouse around. Very neat for when you're in bed or whatnot.

figures I got a Magic Mouse for Christmas and aparently found out the Bluetooth Reciver on my mini was broken so its in for repair hopefully by the weekend it will be back i wanna try this out

MagicPrefs keeps randomly just disappearing from my menu bar, which is a crash I assume, since none of the custom gestures work anymore when this happens.

Anyone else getting this?

Sl

Well I still havn't upgraded to SL, but MagicPrefs seems to be doing great for me. After all, all I wanted was to be able to activate Dashboard, Expose and Spaces, but I got a couple other tricks with the DL too so I'm cool. Maybe when I upgrade I'll give BTT a spin.

Magicmouse config w/Starcraft 2

New to Mac, new to starcraft, new to magic mouse, new to magicprefs.

Overall needy SOB here, so many apologies for simple questions.

Normally the magicmouse will let you, on a webpage, move on X/Y axis freely using two fingers. Any way to configure it w/magicprefs so that in a map-type game (starcraft2, in this case) it could be used to move north south east west?

Dreaming, or just too advanced for a novice?
