As many are, I’ve long been a fan of the Scosche Magnet plate mounts, as well as vehicle-specific magnet mounts like ClearMounts to keep my iPhone easily visible when in the car. In planning for the iPhone X, I’m wondering if anyone has yet solved the likely issue users with metal plates on their phones will have when trying to charge with Qi wireless chargers. I’ve read that the metal plate could get hot because it coducts some of the electricity from the Qi charger, and I’d like to avoid risking any damage to my case, phone, etc. Is my best bet just placing the mounting plate above the coil in the case, or can I slap it right on top of the coil without worrying about charging/heat issues? Alternatively, would I be better off placing strips around the coil as long as they don’t overlap? Thanks to anyone with insight.
