As the Anker charger is 10W, those numbers would seem to indicate that MagSafe charging isn’t more energy efficient than Qi.From WSJ, it’s way slower.

I don’t see the port ever going away
direct data transmission is still important
Do you know any 10-15 USB C power bricks? I spent $75 bucks on a usb-c to lightning cable and too much invested, I currently use the 18watt brick from the iPad Pro and charge the Ipad with the mac.Heat is even worse. I would not be surprised if 15W Magsafe damage more than 20W wired USB-C
Its going to go away. Where there is smoke there is fire and there has been billows of smoke around this rumor for a while now.
Wireless charging will always be slow. Unless you can eliminate the extra heat. Right now you can’t. The option sucks.
I’d rather have a lighter phone. Or huge battery life with the same weight, making charging a non-issue.
Huawei Mate 40 Pro wirelessly charges at 50W
That's way worse than I expected. It takes 3.5 hours to charge the iPhone X with the below combo...Charging time 15W Magsafe 0-100% (12/12Pro) : 3h21
What would surprise me is if any of it matters whatsoever.Heat is even worse. I would not be surprised if 15W Magsafe damage more than 20W wired USB-C
First of all. 15W on ANY QI charger is measuring the power draw between the adapter and the QI charger... NOT how much power is being delivered to the phone as one might expect.
Not a lie, but I’m willing to admit I could be misinformed. Which coil is the 15w to though? Because frankly the output wattage of the MagSafe puck may be 15w, but the effective wattage the phone is receiving must still be significantly lower. Estimates I’ve read are approx 30%.That is a biiiiiig fat lie. The Qi specification states that the power stated is at the output of the coil. Therefore if Apple says the MagSafe is 15W, then the coil should output 15W. https://www.wirelesspowerconsortium...fications/download-the-qi-specifications.html
Which app is it?There is an app for you to measure the charging rate.
We will all try tomorrow.

Is that slow charge really better?Charge with the slow 5w brick over-night. Neither my work SE or my 11 Pro has dropped below 100% health. I'll stick to that. I do have an 18w fast charger if I do ever really need an urgent quick charge, but I've only needed it a few times.
Whats the benefit from losing ports? Fast charging, data transfer and wired headphones are pretty useful. And more energy is wasted through wireless charging than a direct charge. So what’s the ultimate goal of this. It seems like a move to USB-C would be more beneficial and uniform for the product line.IMO 2021 is a bit too agressive to get rid of the port. I really think they will get rid of it more likely in 2022 if Magsafe adoption within 2 years is good.
$75 on a cable? Isn’t that a little excessive?Do you know any 10-15 USB C power bricks? I spent $75 bucks on a usb-c to lightning cable and too much invested, I currently use the 18watt brick from the iPad Pro and charge the Ipad with the mac.
