based on my past experience with at least 2 or 3 broken Macbook chargers, I get the feeling that the MagSafe charger will see premature cable failure. I've seen a few YouTube videos of people trying to separate the Magsafe charger and the phone buy tugging on the cable. The part where the cable enters the Magsafe will likely break after a few months. :( (but hopefully Apple made it tougher than Macbook charger cables?)

Hopefully there is a year warranty on it

As long as your not pulling it off with the wire you’re going to be fine. The only thing I’m worried about is it scratching the back of my phone if I don’t use a case.
That is a real good point and something I am concerned about too. If you can slide it off with one hand without scratching the phone then I’m fine with the added mechanic of taking the phone of the charger. However, if you have to carefully remove the puck by pulling it away with the other hand to avoid scratches then that would be a clear design oversight.

The biggest question in my mind is is the magnet strong enough to hold the phone upright, and even in a car while driving. This would be game changer. Never need to put a metal plate on back of phone again.

For the folks that have been using this on the iPhone 11 Pro / Pro Max - can you confirm the charge speed? Is it 15w? And is there a way to empirically tell?

Looks neat, but it won’t look neat with 2 or 3 of them next to each other, for each device 😒

Makes me want to wait until a dual model is released (for iPhone/AirPods).

Im not going to keep the individual MagSafe puck. I already have a great wireless pad specifically for my AirPods from Amazon that works great.

I will However be getting the Duo MagSafe charger whenever it comes out.

CoconutBattery reports charging speeds of around 3w when charging my iPhone 11 Pro with it. This is way lower than the ~6w it reports when charging with a mophie wireless charger that supports 7,5w. Maybe it still needs a software update.

My guess is that 20W charger is required for the MagSafe Duo to do the full 15W iPhone 12 charging while having enough spare power to charge an Apple Watch

Yep, I read it. As I said it is in the footnote, iPhone 12 or better needs 20W
