I get this circle when i charge my 12 pro max over night with the magsafe charger, no case. Tho it doesnt leave a circle like your does all the time and when it does it just comes right off, and maybe I have experienced this once or twice.

How about inserting a piece of parchment paper between charger and phone? Inconvenient, but easier than cleaning after each charge.

If nothing else it would be an interesting experiment in order to see if it made a difference.

Well thats good to hear, mine is also pacific blue altough it looks like graphite in the picture hah. How long have you been using Magsafe?
Since it was released. Also I’m using it with a leather case. Sometimes I charge it with the case on, sometimes with it off. Interestingly it doesn’t seem to be showing a mark / imprint on the leather case... yet.

Hmm thats good to hear, im also getting the leather case tomorrow and plan to use it naked and with the case. Im fine with the case gettinng an imprint, but hope the phone doesnt! Wel im sort of relieved by the responses so far, im loving Magsafe otherwise, so much nicer way to charge.

I’ve used the MagSafe charger every day for the past week and have not seen this mark on my Silver Pro Max. I’m wondering if the mark shows more easily on the darker colored phones. Also for consideration is that for those of us using the phone without a case, that the heat from the charger is showing the outline from the normal oils on our skin and any micro debris which should, or not, easily wipe clean.

12 pro Max in graphite here. Have used the MagSafe charger every night all night since release of the phone. Never noticed a mark on the phone. Nothing there now. I’ll check it when I take it off the charger in the morning.

Could the mark just be dust collected on the MagSafe charger which get imprinted by heat while charging. This is why it can be cleaned off later?

Looks like we need to invest in skins from dBrand

Checked this morning right after pulling the charger off. No marks what so ever. Phone also doesn’t get warm while charging

Wrapping the MagSafe in Cling-foil may prevent marks on the phone. Maybe someone could try that? It seems to be the metal ring on the charger coming in direct contact with the phone that is causing the marks. Cling-foil may well prevent those marks.

Hi. Any updates with it? Naked and with case?

When using the MagSafe Charger, Apple warns that it can leave an imprint on the Leather Cases designed for the ‌iPhone 12‌ models, which is something to be aware of. It can also leave a mark on Silicone cases based on reports from MacRumors readers, and it’s possible that this will affect third-party cases made from soft materials as well.

So I have an Apple leather case for my Max in red and the first time I used my MagSafe charger (the Belkin 3-in-1) it left a faint imprint. I was able to wipe away most of it, but no amount of rubbing got completely rid of some of the marks that started appearing. I've been using the charger for a couple of weeks now every day and the imprint is more and more visible but not jarring by any means. Also, it's no surprise since Apple did take the time to specifically call this out.

Last night, I used my MagSafe charger with a bare phone for the first time, and while it did leave an imprint like OP's original post, it wiped off easily with the soft cloth I use to clean my screen. No marks visible unlike the leather case after its first time. It's been a few months now since the phones have been out, my guess is if MagSafe charging was leaving permanent imprints on phones we'd have seen or heard about it from plenty of sources by now, and if Apple didn't take the time to specifically call it out, I'm further guessing they did a lot of MagSafe testing with nakes iPhone 12's and we're good.
